THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Cutout image

kiwi_gg ( ) posted Sat, 06 December 2003 at 5:04 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 2:20 PM

A picture which I have cut out in MGI photosuite that I want to use in the foreground of a current bryce project when rendered in bryce on a 2d square plane shows very transparent, you can see the background through the image. Is there any way I can correct this problem. The original cutout was saved to a transparent background,is that where I went wrong? Cheers, GG.

it's possible, what you do is save your image on a black background, dupe it, name it something else, up the contrast and brightness until it's b&w, save that. when you bring it into Bryce and map it on the 2d plane, in the picture lab, the original goes in the first box, your b&w, goes in the second box, and when you ok it, make sure the 'Blend transparency' is check on the drop down menu, bead in the first depression by transparency and it should be okay...try that, I think I got everything. If not I'm sure someone will correct me...;]

Plus, to stress it again: the parts you want to be seen have to be completely white and the rest black. A simple grayscale image in the middle window will make everything transparent in varying degrees. (Good for other effects, though.) Also, the bits you want to be seen have to be completely inside the photo. No intersecting with the edge of the photo, cause you won't be able to get a proper result in Bryce. And yeah, as you can see in Zhann's pictures, transparency value has to be zero for "blend transparency" to work properly.
