Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
I'd love that L_D. Actually I thought I had the midi as a soundtrack (I use DDClip Pro for Video editing) and I had chosen the midi and put it into the midi-slot. But no music was playing, so I just embedded it on the html.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

All right, I'll go through this quickly, and if you need more details, just let me know.
Step 1:
Download and install WinAmp2 and VirtualDub, if you don't already have them. WinAmp3 might work, also, but I haven't given it a try.
Step 2:
Open your .mid file in WinAmp.
From the Preferences panel (CTRL-P), select Input as "Winamp2 MIDI". Configure the plugin to use Microsoft's synthesizer as your device, and enable "Play through Winamp's output" and "Write .wav files" under output. Specify the folder where you want the .wav file sent.
Step 3:
Play the .mid file. If you have Repeat enabled, you'll have to stop it at some point, or else the .wav file will just keep growing until it devours your entire hard drive.
Step 4:
In VirtualDub, open your video file. There's no need to recompress the video if you're only adding a soundtrack, so set VDub to direct stream copy, and it'll recycle the existing video track.
Video menu --> Direct Stream Copy
Step 5:
Add your new .wav file.
Audio menu --> WAV Audio
Step 6:
Save your video.
File menu --> Save as AVI (or hotkey F7)
Depending upon the length of your animation, you might also want to use audio compression, but I'll save that lesson for another day.
Thanks, I'll try that. It never occured to me that you could use WinAmp's Write to Disk feature like that :o)

It's DivX. I don't know if Media Player can handle that by default :o( You can get the free plugin at http://www.divx.com

I never went higher than Windows Media Player 7, myself. Too much code-bloat. I prefer Media Player Classic.
QuickTime tried to play it, but couldn't. Even though I went to Apple's site and downloaded the latest version. (Right pain that was, too. If Quicktime is anything like the Mac OS, I'll never believe anyone who says Macs are easier than Windoze machines...) So I downloaded the AVI, and it played in WinAmp. No sound, but the animation is really, really nice. I gotta learn to animate in Poser...

Here's the spyware-free version of DivX :o) Do NOT get the so-called "free" pro version, unless you LIKE spyware of course. This one at the link should be safe :o)FREEBIES! | My Gallery | My Store | My FB | Tumblr |
