Do you get the Out of Memory message right away, or after you click on something? Do you get some kind of message saying Poser can't find an "obj" or Geometry file first? If it isn't the geometry problem, you might want to check out this link from Curious Labs. It's a memory updater for those who have over 1GB of memory.

Try using the Program Compatibility Wizard under (Programs)-(Accessories) And set it to run as Win 98 or ME. It worked for me.

Also make sure you have all the updates - latest version is Poser 4.03. You can download from Curious Labs if not.

I have 18 GB free memory on a 40 GB hard drive so how come Poser 5 is so slow and I can't render High Resolution Images.

sirkrite ( ) posted Sun, 07 December 2003 at 8:49 PM

akura what operating system you running on? And how much RAM do you have?

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Sun, 07 December 2003 at 9:07 PM

Akura, how much memory do you have? Have you defragged your hard drive? Have you run CorrectReference?

akura_ ( ) posted Sun, 07 December 2003 at 10:41 PM

Im running XP with 256 RAM I defragged yesterday, and whats Correct Reference.

You should check into upgrading your RAM DIMMs. Poser 5 needs alot of it to render high res picture. The more the better! When CL said 128 min. 256 recomended. What they meant was 128 the program would run and 256 you could do simple renders.

CorrectReference is a free program that goes over your Poser collection, and fixes, or corrects, the Texture References so Poser works better and faster. Look in FreeStuff here. Do a search for hogwarden. Oh, yes, 256MB of RAM is not really very much if you're doing graphics applications. Upgrade your memory to at least 512MB, and run CorrectReference as well.
