Hi, How can I lenthen the time of my animation to 1 or 2 minutes? Thanks Pat

TIMMYLYNN ( ) posted Mon, 08 December 2003 at 7:39 PM

From what i've been able to figure out you need 30 frames per second for your animation to look right and if you want to it to 1 or 2 minutes long then you would need 180 frames for 1 minute or 360 frames for 2 minutes. Anyone else have any insight?

okay but how do you add frames it won't let me?

TIMMYLYNN ( ) posted Mon, 08 December 2003 at 7:49 PM

Open the animation controls at the bottom of the screen (SHIFT-CTRL-P) and enter a higher value in the rightmost frame counter. Afterward, you can retime the existing keyframes to fit the new length, if necessary.

30 FPS x 60 sec = 1800 frames for 1 minute animation 30 FPS x 120 sec = 3600 frames for 2 minute animation ... unless my calculator lied to me. ;=]

Actually, while I always use 30fps, you can usually get away with 18fps. It really depends on what you are animating; if it's something like a walking figure, where your eye KNOWS what it's supposed to look like, you'll probably need 24fps+ to be realistic.

I'm still annoyed by the fact I can't enter fractional amounts for framerate. You might think there's no significant difference between 30fps and 29.97fps, but after a minute or two the sound clearly doesn't sync up any more.

My x-mas card animation runs for exactely 20 seconds, and consists of 600 frames. So Dr Geep's calculator seems to be fully functional :o)

Am I missing something here? I can only get 999 frames max in Poser 4/5.

geep ( ) posted Tue, 09 December 2003 at 11:32 AM

The display will only indicate "999" but ... Please see graphic in post #6 in this thread. cheers, dr geep ;=]
