Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
Ok product showcase is cut and dry, but artwork?!? What exactly is left to talk about here. Maybe this forum should be renamed to the "Newbie Question Forum". Without all the little side posts this forum would be nothing but texh support and very boring for those who don't need tech support or links. Personally I don't think artwork or characters are a problem. The fun aspect of the forum just seems to be slowly chipped down to the bone. My motto is if you don't want to read it...ignore it.

"Well, people have been showing images and WIPs here since the first day, nothing new." Actually i have stopped posting my WIP since they ended up being moved to the showcase forum, even though they were still in early WIP stages and not really a showcase piece. So since they dont want em here...I have moved to other forums to get the needed feedback from the community. Rawn
There's specifically a Poser Technical Forum and a Poser Python Scripting forum and then also this Poser forum. They all seem to be pretty well utilized. There's a lot of room given for 'cross-over' subject matter, as you've seen. There is no W.I.P forum and sadly, the wip gallery is not very well frequented for what it was made for. So, ppl will post an image in the forum for help & suggestions. Same if they've got something in development - they come here for feedback they can't get from a gallery. If they're posting it just to show off a finished image, that's not so good ;) There are the galleries for that. Announcements about off-site free items are nice to see - there's so many other Poser content sites, it's hard to keep 'em straight. Poser has a constant influx of new people - so the newbie questions are always going to be there. Kind of a good feeling when us former newbies are able to answer questions. ;) And it turns into a learning process for more than just the person asking the question too - barring any highbrowed denouncements of daring to ask anything at all. ;) I think there's plenty of Poser stuff to talk about outside of the technical aspects of it. :)
I think diversity is good for a forum. There aren't nearly as many regulars as there used to be and the forums managed back then just fine. Personally I get a bit dejected when I log on and see no new posts to read. Know what I mean? hehe. Sometimes too many subdivisions of any one thing can be ineffective. I think it can end up taking the social aspect away or at least diminish it. Never seen anyone denounce anyone for asking questions though. Hope that isn't actually happening. But I think for balance it is good to have more than just questions.

Personally, I think there are lot more forums that there need to be. Particularly "Art Theory" and a few of the other topic forums. Remember "Silence of the Lambs." The first rule is simplicity. I've heard a lot of members ask why these forums aren't used and the reason (I believe) is that they are redundant.
Personally I don't think artwork or characters are a problem. The fun aspect of the forum just seems to be slowly chipped down to the bone. I totally agree, here. Gosh, i miss the way the forums used to be. i find myself spending less and less time here, myself, as this place has started to become tedious.
It's scary, but I'd have to agree there, Poppi (and Anton) There are getting less and less posts in this fourm and that's a bl00dy SHAME!!! Takes the fun away, it does :o(

I find a lot of valuable info seeing/reading about 'artwork and characters' that others are doing...personaly I have to 'agree' with Anton and Poppi. guess that's one reason I restrain as much as possible from touching the keyboard when I do visit here these days...besides not wanting anymore 'flaming IMs'...
I like seeing the pics. YOu know if there's an image anyway before you open it. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Some of the old regulars have moved on down the line -- Certain of them can be found on other sites, and they are just as fiesty as ever. Others, unfortunately, have faded away completely. Such is life in the big city.
lmao! Love the image sirkrite! I knew she was gonna be yelling at poor old toon guy!

Just a discussion but I've noticed as of late people promoting their artwork or characters here. Now I do understand wanting to show off a WIP but I think there can be a distinct difference: 1. The Gallery is for showing off artwork. 2. The specialty forums ar efor showing off figures for sale or for free or for story idea. At least that's what I thought those forums etc are for. Not that I mind the posts but I don't see a lot of consistancy where one post is moved while others stay. Talk amongst yourselves... I'm getting ka-phlemed.... Oh the pain Barbara has gone through....
