man.....if terragen can import other formats

That's a great image. The lighting is great. I've used Terragen for backgrounds, too. It's so realistic. I wish it had import capabilities. Melanie

Very nice! Are the trees props, or are they from a photograph? I agree, if Terragen could import other formats, even just OBJ, it would knock Bryce and Vue right out of the picture. No doubt one of the best free programs available. SnowS Hoping his pictures are worth 1001 words.

Wonderful piece, both technically and artistically. What was it rendered in? Also, how about some details on the source of each of the items in the image -- Sky clouds & sunburst; Mountains, Water & I assume the rest (figure, hair, clothing, railing, deck & trees) were Poser figures and props. How much was post- production? What about the blur and what appears to be depth cueing on the background? How did you highlight the water? What is the air-speed of an unladen swallow? (ok, ok)

jeffheater ( ) posted Sun, 20 August 2000 at 4:53 PM

an African, or European swallow?

swfreeman ( ) posted Sun, 20 August 2000 at 5:16 PM

ok i try to explain it :) trees chara and the balcony are rendered in poser. background was created with terragen(inclusive Sky clouds & sunburst; Mountains, Water ,highlight on the water)i generate the scene, highest output, and rendered it in 800x800 this takes up to 2 minutes on a sgi oxygen 2.then i start poser on my pc(pling! oxygen is ready with the background),pose the scene, add lightsources, import the background from the workstation, and render the pic.....2 minutes........ post work hmmm i only make a atmospheric blurring ,and resample the pic thats all

Thanks swfreeman. That was clear. Seems TerraGen has been significantly updated since I last looked at it. Gonna have to give it another shot.
