I'm a Carrara Beginner. I'm using Carrara 3. I created this really cool shader yesterday, and saved it to the Browser tray. It was working fine yesterday, I applied it to various objects and checked it out with the test render tool. All was fine - BUT - then I opened Carrara today and applied the shader to an object, and look at the image above to see what happened to it. I went into the texture room to see what went wrong, but in the texure room the preview of the shader looks like it's supposed to look. Back in the assenmble room, and it's ruined. I also did a test final render and it looked awful there, too. I don't have a clue what I did wrong. Can someone help me or suggest something?? thanks LindaB

LindaB: Your shader probably has a high reflection value in some areas, but also from what I can see in your render there is nothing to reflect in the scene. What you need is a background to be reflected. As a first try I would go to the properties for the scene and in the background choose the bigradient. This way you will see how the shader looks with something to reflect. Hope this helps.

You were right, with a bigradient background it looks fine! Thanks for your help. LindaB
