Yeah, I like the rust, too, but I don't want to make it brown. hehe and that safety stripping, let me tell ya 'bout that. Everytime you change postions you need to fix the texture or else it's way off, but hey, that's half the fun of this. Do the rusted/aged spot look too big or too small or something like that? I just textured parts of the lower deck to get an idea of it's developement. Do you guys like the white 1st or 2nd one better or do you think rusted grey?

In case you need some more photos to compare colors...Thanks for the pic Ardiva. I don't have that one. MG - Thanks. That looks like an awesome site. Now why couldn't I find that when I was lookign for images. What search engine did you use and what did you put in as a request. I use google and couldn't come up with anything that good. Thanks again. And if you guys jave opinions on the textures, spit 'em out.

How about darker textures on the bottom and the lighter ones on top, the pics I've seen, ususally stuff underneath is darker near the water, and maybe not all one light color on top, mix it with some oranges and steel blues...just my 2cents, it's looking good....!

the rust down below is looking really awesome...it's great! there's just something about the rust up above tho....it's not quite right.. I like the color of the rust in the first one, but the color of the facing in the second one...lol is it possible to combine them? maybe lower the ambience just a tad, make it look not just rusty, but worn out too? Lookin great Boomer!
Super model! Ild go for a blue/grey worn metal texture, and add the rust with postwork. Easier to put it at the right spots.

Thansk for the input, everyone. The image above is just the lower deck of the rig. There are still 3 large sections that are placed on top. The rig that I copied this from is painted white and is in a lot better shape than I intend on making this one. That's why I am going with the light colors on it. The odds are that I will come up with a couple of different texture sets in different colors. I'm also tweaking as I go when I find something that needs it. Zhann - I have a radial light underneath the deck so I can see how the textures look when they are in place. Without it, it's plenty dark under there. Trust me. Cog - there is NO WAY I am redoing the safety stripes on 600 rails in as many directions. Don't care how much you pay me. Well, that's a lie and completely besides the point. hehe Quest - good idea. I'm goign to try jsut that with a few of the textures. Jen - I haven't tweaked the textures yet. Just put them in place, but yeah, the ambiance will definetly be dropped. Nothing bright and cheery about this rig. Rochr - The textures are rusted going on the model, but there will defiently be postwork rust added. MG - smartass. I used that also, but never came up with that page. That other site was great. I spent quite a bit of time looking through it. Seems like red, white, grey beige and plain steel are the colors of choice. Thanks for the input, everyone. It's exactly what I was looking for.

I'm just trying out a couple of different textures and not sure what to go with. Hit me with all your ideas you may have on how you think it a derilict rig should look. It has been used in some time, so it's going to look a bit run down and rusted. My research has shown me that most rigs have white, grey, beige-ish as primary colors with other ones thrown in. Hence the colors you see before you. Lighter, darker, more rust texture and whatever else. But I do want to stick with the three colors I mentioned as my primary.Because I like to blow $%&# up.
