Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
I use displacement maps instead of Poser 4 bump maps and have used the blender nodes too. I don't think I have seen freestuff textures using Poser 5 capabilities or even for sale which is sad. Poser 5 has a wealth of new features but sadly is still ridden with bugs, its memory management is horrendous and most important Curious Labs shoot itself in the foot by not going over their way to get compatibility with DAZ models. If Poser 5 would have catered to DAZ figures instead of ignoring them, even buggy as it still is now it would have enjoyed a lot more support by the community since DAZ would have probably have supported it too.
I'm not sure if Poser 5 is to blame for the memory management problems. In the case of Windows OS, it's probably the OS to blame, based on reports I hear, although I admit the first release of P5 Windows was a slap-dash job of out-sourcing and a wretched bug-fest. But in the case of OS X (Jaguar, Panther), memory management has some serious flaws, one of which is called "page-outs", a hereditary disease it got from Unix, a 30-year-old OS. Things can get so bad due to excessive page-outs that the only cure is to shut down and restart. Of course, this is in a system which the OS X geeks will try to tell you should never be shut down, except for security updates.

For those of you who may not know, I have been working on a document trying to identify the basic things that merchants need to do. These suggestions came from you the customer. I have included them in one document and posted on my artist page. Since then I have set up a poser page on my homepage that deals just with free tidbits or utilities that one would find useful in setting up freestuff or selling something at Renderosity! Several links are included to help you get started, so enjoy!
