No Prob! Here's are the previous Mails, damn, I want an editable forum, pleeeaaaaseeeee!!!! Did you do a Amazon-search for "500 3D"? ;-) Nevertheless: 500 3D Objects by Julius Wiedermann 2 CDs, Taschen There are two volumes, do you search for a specific item? Not to forget only a limited number of models is in high resolution, most of them are low poly. But 1000 models with textures for 60 Euro is worth every cent. Buy both, that's what I did... ;-)

out of curiosity what formats are available on the discs my wife and myself own bryce, poser, and cinema 4d so to purchase models that are non compliant would be unintelligible at best and the ad shows wonderful models just without listing formats such as .obj, 3ds, max, ect. ect. ect. i would greatly appreciate any input T.I.A. :) - Thomas

All objects are in 3DS-format, are textured, the texture-files are in JPG/TGA/TIF-format.

You might want to read the reviews first. One was very positive, but two were very negative, claiming that most of the models are already available free online -- at higher resolution, no less.

Too bad we can't see a list of the models being offered...I wonder if most have come from 3DCafe??? Gives me something to ponder about...hmmmmmmmm

catlin_mc ( ) posted Thu, 18 December 2003 at 7:32 PM

Ah well, this forum is full of of "mistakenly used" ect. so who's to know, unless one serches the entire internet, Whew! and that would be some search. Catlin

I don't think any of the models were wrongly used. According to the review, the models were provided by DeEspona.com. I went to their site, and their free models are now at Turbosquid. Their full-size models are very expensive. But the ones on the CD are apparently much reduced - like, 5% of the original poly count. To the point that the textures are larger than the models. One reviewer complains that this amounts to fraud, because the photos in the book accompanying the CD are of the high-res models. The models that are actually on the CD are low-poly versions that will never look nearly that good. But once you open the CD, you can't return the book.

Have the 1st collection for a while now, it's not bad even when the models aren't all high-res, got it for 16 at a local store. There are quite a number of models that were and as far as I know are still available for free from at the DeEspona site, but at 3 cts a model why bother to download. btw. DeEspona is mentioned on the back of the book.

Don't forget: some models on each Volume are High-Poly (around 40 in Vol.1 and around 60 in Vol.2) - those models are really nice. Most of them are useful even at lower poly-count, some are simply junk. It always depends what you want to do with the models... :)

I have some low poly model from DeEspona and even with them being low poly they still render pretty good. 8) Catlin
