... but probably won't be, cause I'm doing this for a mixed media image. Still, I might post it to Bryce gallery when I add a bit of haze for depth and volumetric world for more light, as well as a couple of tiny details. So, S&D seesion is open. Anything you think is wrong... BTW, egret is Meski's freebie, available over at 3D Commune. And except its texture every other texture is constructed in Bryce. 99% photo-texture free. :-)

Excellent image Erlik! I think it could use some darker leaf shadows mixed in with the tree leaves. Tranquil scene.

What do you mean, darker shadows? There are lighter and darker parts of the crown, and the darker parts are in shade. BTW, anybody knows any meaningful way of translating camera coordinates from another program to Bryce? I ran into a problem since I cannot position a model like I did in Rhino. Or vice versa? I think I'll have to scrap the mixed media idea.

Well, yes, there are darker and lighter parts of the crown but in real life, the density of a shadow also depends and how far away is the shadow producing object. For instance, the shadows between the leaves themselves will vary and fluctuate as the wind moves them producing different densities and different depths of shadows as the light strikes them. Of course, in barrowing your image, I incorporated post work to add the darker shadows, with all due respect. But this is my opinion, and my attempt at offering constructive criticism; you may take it or leave it as you please. Overall, the image is still great and stands on its own merit. Sorry I cant help you on the camera position translation problem. I know that 3D Studio offers some solution but not being totally familiar with it I couldnt expound further on how its done or the principles involved.

Quest...i can barely tell a difference between the original and your postwork...seems to me like you were just nitpicking. Great image, looks like someone walked out of their house and snapped a photo.

Ah, yes, Quest, I thought it was something like that. Although it seems to me that your borrowing of my pic is a tiny bit lighter than the original up there. But it's easily remedied with less ambience, as the pic overall will be lighter after volumetric world. Thanks everybody for nice comments. BTW, I ran into another bug, I think. There's something like 13-14 trees making the crown. I select them all and go to change leaf settings. And it changes the settings only on one tree, unlike ... lights, for instance. So, I will lower the ambience, but I will have to do that one tree after another. Hey, when's that Bryce 6 coming out anyway?!

Looks to me like he passed his diffusion or ambience settings through black/white or something similar.

Could be worse, could be raining.

It's not the shadow of clouds, but forest. Actually, the grass texture as the basis, and then a couple of photo textures from gardenhose.com as the second channel and the mixing/bump texture, with the bump set to 899.
