Subject: Poser 5 Lights

Sorry for the stupid question here... wondering if there is a way to remove all lights from a scene without have to delete them one by one. Some light sets have a ton of lights to them and going one by one takes FOREVER! I have tried "Restore Lights" but it just seems to dim them. Not remove all but the original. I'd even be happy saving a light set with no lights in it. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch! Nebula

Poser has a very weak "undo" that only seems to work when manipulating a figure directly. That means that most actions taken require a save prior to doing them so that a user has something to go back to. Adding lights, parenting props, and a host of other things cannot be undone, so it's best to save the file before taking many actions. If you're just playing around with files, and don't care about the end product, just start a new file.

Ok, let me ask this then. If I have a light set loaded and say it has 10 lights. I then go and load a different set that has say 4 lights. Will Poser remove the 10 lights and load the 4? Or will there now be 14 lights in the scene, dimmed or otherwise? The reason I ask this is that I have in the past loaded a light set with lots of lights. Then loaded a set with fewer lights. But it "appears" the old set is left and just dimmed. Am I seeing things or is this really happening? Thanks! Nebula

You can download a couple of Pythin scripts from the freestuff here which will delete all lights from a scene. There's also one called "Light Panel" which allows you to brighten or dim each or all lights, parent them to something, unparent, change colour, etc. I use them all the time.

Nebula, you aren't seeing things. Poser merely switches off the lights present in the scene when you load another set. The python script for deleting lights is very useful, I didn't know about the Light Panel, though. I'll have to investigate.

Karen! Thanks! I never even thought of a script. I'll go check it out now. Thanks again!! Sam, good to know it's not just me! Thanks for your input. Nebula
