Subject: Happy PC holiday err... or maybe not a holiday... err..

Mason ( ) posted Wed, 24 December 2003 at 5:11 PM · edited Tue, 08 October 2024 at 12:17 PM

Happy politically correct holiday/not holiday season in which we can't mention religion, beliefs or faiths or say anything that might actually hurt anyone's feelings in anyway shape or form. Have a nice, safe, controlled, harmless, uneventful holiday which may or may not be a holiday at all depending on your background and faith system which we can't mention. BTW we can't mention if this is a holiday or not since this may hurt someone's feelings somewhere and that person may feel oppressed and exploited... or not.

Welllll.... I'm an atheist, a heck of a lot of my friends are Muslim, quite a few are Christians, a few are Jewish, a couple are Buddhist, several are Wiccan, the rest are pretty much Heathens like me. :) But... I still wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Whoever and wherever you are. So... Merry Christmas, the whole bloody lot of you. Yes, that means YOU. :)

nickedshield - Ah but you can't wish people a happy Shopping day since the socialists will get angry. That's promoting evil capitalism. And the drinking day insults peoples with alchohol problems.

we evil people are offended!

Happy days of cooking endlessly (then cleaning it up!), dealing with relatives you can't stand, and general exhaustion. But I think we can all want peace on our planet and universe and good fortune to all. May you all find Joy in your life, no matter the reason.

Happy Winter Equinox! The real meaning of this time is that the days have stopped getting shorter, and will gradually get longer and warmer. Those Johnny-come-lately modern religions are just "me-too'ing" this perfectly natural event...they're worse than a bunch of texture thieves! As far as I can tell, the Pagans pretty much had it right...

Merry Xmas (from an agnostic Mahayana Buddhist [former Muslim] who borrows heavily from Hinduism who still celebrates the secular version of Christmas)...

Felicitations;

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all;" PLUS "a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great, (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "AMERICA" in the western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual orientation of the wisher." (Disclaimer: By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher who assumes no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)

And to all a good night.

....Had to be said.

(..With thanks to J Ent...)

leather-guy - Damn that reads like the disclaimer for Claranex or Happy Fun Ball. But it expresses my mood about the season precisily.

caulbox ( ) posted Thu, 25 December 2003 at 8:11 AM

I'm not religious either... but I do know absolutely beyond doubt that the True God of creation is amongst us all. I could say so very much more, but I would neither ask for nor expect belief. In much the same way that Kant theorized, the human mind imposes categories of filters, and intuitions in order to make sense of the stream of phenomena it encounters. Belief in what is possible is a prisoner to this logic.
