Hot damn and wooohooo! Did you make this? How come it only moves when you are close to the monitor? How come some seem to move while others stay still?

tjohn ( ) posted Fri, 26 December 2003 at 5:02 AM

No, I hadn't seen this one. Thanks for sharing!

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Groingrinder: I think it has something to do with the blue/yellow (opposites) coloration. The brain is fooled into thinking that it is seeing afterimages (like looking at yellow for a while will leave a blue afterimage on the eyes for a few seconds) and therefore, motion. If not that, I dunno.

Oh my gosh! That is one of the coolest optical illusions I've ever seen!

P.S. I just set that image as my desktop background. Now I can freak my eyes out anytime I log onto my laptop!

amethyss ( ) posted Fri, 26 December 2003 at 10:17 AM

I never made it.It was sent to me........Not going be driving anywhere near where Andini lives I hope.It does some serious disorientation.

wow, I could have sworn it was an animation at first, because the more I looked around at it, the more it moved, except where I was looking of course.

Big deal. My screen does this with any image (usually only when I'm getting to the last glass in the bottle :-P ) Very cool illusion! Thanks!
