Subject: Import from Poser 4 OS9-OSX?

I just installed Poser 5 on OSX. How do I get my old figs from Poser 4/OS9? Just bought Mike 3.0 from Daz - how do install it to Poser 5 OSX?

If you run the DAZ installer, it locates the Poser(TM) 4 folder; but the popup allows you to select another directory. You can select the Poser 5 folder (um, right now I can't remember if you select the Poser 5 folder or the Runtime folder inside it, but the experiment is easy), and it'll install there.

You can also use your Poser 4 runtime from Poser 5, if you want. (I chose not to, just because I had so much miscellaneous junk there.) I copied a bunch of "obvious" stuff from the Poser 4 runtime; though it's sometimes tricky because you have to find the geometry, pose files, and textures. (If you don't want to use the whole runtime, it's probably easiest to find the original zip or installer file.)

Having done this myself, I was lazy and kept my installed Poser 4 and installed libraries. I then told Poser 5 to look in my Poser 4 directories for figures, lights, poses etc... Finally, I copied the poser library called !DAZ to my Poser 5 library folder (this is essential if you don't want to be prompted for poses when you load Michael, Freak or Victoria 3. When I install new items I either use the regular installer that Daz provides or if it is a vendor, Stuffit Expander, MacConverter, MacInstaller and copy any changes to the Poser 4 !DAZ folder to the Poser 5 !Daz folder (you will know when you have to when the file contains inj or rem files...
