Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 8:14 am)
PlanIT 3D : mule/donkey morphs and texture for the Poser horse, western saddle and blanket
3D Commune : saddle bags by cooler (Poser Free Stuff)
HaiGan also has a saddle blanket in Free Stuff.
Thanks Little Dragon! I got all that stuff aleady and it was needed. But the saddle isn't what is needed. The way it looks is a wood frame similar to a saddle resting on a leather web which rests in turn, on a thick saddle blanket. Cinched in place it holds two x-shaped wood frames with cross supports upon which are tied the bundles, boxes, tools, etc. Not so ordinary a prop and as I found, REAL difficult to get to look right working with only primitives. But thanks for the help! ;)
I believe that cooler also made a bedroll, which could tie neatly onto that pack. Also look at pillows as potential bundled bits. Trekkiegrrrl has a morphing pillow. I think Traveler made one as well, a long time ago. There are various sacks (common around Christmas), some with flopped down tops or string ties: scale them down and place them where you need lumpy bits. An old chest or trunk can be scaled down, too. Maclean had some strange primitives and some really odd pillowy shapes, which might be handy. Check freestuff at 3dcommune for cooler and maclean items. Depending upon what era and sort of camping, a grill or a coffeepot might not be out-of-place. Poor donkey! Carolly
Thanks everyone helping me here I will be looking for that other stuff! Hai! I was just looking for your e-mail address last night from the readme files on your saddle blanket prop. It looks great. That is the thingy I need to tie it all together. When do you anticipate completing it? Is it conforming or just a smart prop? Even if not completely finished (not knowing your intent) as long as all the straps meet in the right places enough to drop it and texture it in poser it'll do for my needs for now. :) Also, at your site I tried getting some items that had dead links. Not sure you were aware of it so I thought I would let you know. Though not sure how many items were dead these were for sure: -Poseable tail pdf manual -All of the Horsefeathers 8 stuff (3 seperate DLs I beleive) Also, I thought you were working in conjunction with the very cool poseable tail, a poseable mane. If so, was that ever completed and/or made availabe? Didn't see it at your DL site.
I went and looked, too. His "saddlebag" is there as is a "water/wineskin". No rolled blanket. :( I do remember seeing one, but maybe it was something in development? EdW has been working on a horse and tack. I wonder... it might have been called "swag" or something like what the Australians carry into the bush? (I searched 3dcommune for every logical keyword with no luck, but haven't searched here or at RDNA or PoserPros.) Carolly
shante, I'll IM you about the pack saddle. Thanks for the dead link info- my website seems to be in a permanent state of mobility at the moment! I'll hopefully get everything fixed when it's settled in one location. There's more than one mane in the works, along with some improved tails, but nothing that's ready to show yet. At the moment I tend to use Little_Dragon's lovely 'Got Mane?'.

Greetings! I am working on a pro-bono illustration for a camping group for my nephew and I need to get a hold of a pack saddle with assorted bundles for a mule/donkey ( modified poser horse). I have a lead line and head harness (thanks to Hai Gan!) and several tools and pans and lantern but am trying to track down the rest of the saddle tack and assorted bundles. I tried making it myself with primitives but the experience was tedious (in Poser!) and the results? Well? Lets just say not worth the hours of time invested. I'd very much like to find the items to use in a decent Poser rendered base to cut down on post creation time. Does anyone here know where I might be able to find some such items in the community? Thanks.
