Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 18 7:53 am)
For the last one I took the poser 'box' and 'cylinder' and applied in the material room (poser 5) the "faceSpher.jpg" from the above mentioned webpage to the displacement node (displacement set at 3.0000). That's it. For the first one I made a map in UVMapper from the manikin, pasted the jpeg where the face supposed to be and set the rest of the map black. (black is 'no displacement' - white is 'maximum displacement'). Then I attached this map to the displacement node (displacement 3). (For this I used the "face12.jpg" from the same webpage and reduced the 'Gamma' to make the black parts darker.) I also tried painting my own facemaps, but the results were not nearly as good as from these little jpegs found at that webside. :-( Very cool 'effects' can be achieved with displacement maps, but I'm wondering, if it can be used to create new faces/bodies instead of using morphs? I was thinking for example to make a nose longer I could use a morph or instead a black displacement map which gets brighter at the nose part. ...still testing...

... and here is the new link for 'sisgen'. There are also some interesting hints on how to create depth-maps (which can be used as displacement maps in this context).Attached Link: http://user.txcyber.com/~sgalls/
PoseRay will allow you to use displacement maps to modify an obj file to create a morph target. The quality of the results depend on how dense the mesh is of course."Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Mencken

I made a little experiment with the poser manikin: Applied a displacement map from the mentioned link and this is the result. I didn't care for the image quality - just wanted to find out, if it actually could work...
