Subject: Two new misfeatures in Renderosity

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Tue, 30 December 2003 at 4:44 PM ยท edited Sat, 02 November 2024 at 5:18 AM

(1) In old times, when I called text search in the freestuff, the search results came up newest first. That was useful, because often I called text search for my own uploads to see how popular they were. Now they come up in random order. Please put this back to how it used to be.

(2) I use Microsoft Internet Explorer (hereinafter IE). In IE, if I save a displayed web page to a file on my PC called (say) qwertyuiop.htm , all its embedded graphics are automatically saved to a new folder called qwertyuiop, and the pointers to them in the saved file qwertyuiop.htm are adjusted accordingly. That is useful. That used to happen even if the displayed page was a gallery page. But now some bit of funny Java-ery or Javascript-ery has been put in the gallery pages so that this does not happen and no images are saved, merely the file qwertyuiop.htm with its original pointers to Renderosity's site. This is no good. People sometimes do want to save gallery pages, so that they don't have to go online every time to see the images over a slow phone-bill-expensive dialup line. For example, I save a copy of every gallery page that I find that uses any of my models. PLEASE PUT THIS BACK TO HOW IT USED TO BE.

I just tried it and I have IE6 and I was able to save the whole page with a separate folder that housed the images, There are two ways to do it; -In the file menu 'Select all', 'Save As', name it and save it, this gives you a htm/html page and a folder with graphics OR -In the file menu, 'Select all', 'Save as' and at the bottom where it askes what type of file, go with 'mht' a single web archive, all the images are embedded. And I agree with you about the freestuff.....

I dont know if this is on-topic.....but here it goes..... This being my top favorite website,I like to keep it my favorites folder,& put an iicon on my desktop,I got a new P.C.,& now when I launch,I get a "SEQ:session_max error. anyone know what this means?

That is strange, it coming up out of chronological order...but, you can still always use this link (save it as a favorite, after you first bring it up) http://www.renderosity.com/freestuff.ez?Form.Contrib=Anthony+Appleyard&Topsectionid=0 And, it will list only YOUR freestuff items in chronologocal order. That still works. ---------- I tried saving your first page of freestuff items, worked perfect, tried it both as just an htm/html and a mht, worked both times. I'm using latest IE, not sure if that has anything to do with it. ...this whole thread seems deja vu.... AgentSmith

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone needs to download the entire web page in order to save a single graphic, assuming one has permission to do so. I'm dim about such things, but it seems like a waste of space to me.

Anthony, the word from our Programmer on why it was changed: "Because freestuff utilizes the FULLTEXT Search capabilities, it orders them based upon relevance to the search query rather than by date." --Asher

This may be to simple but... If you look at the top of the side bar you will see (Member Options) open that and select My Freestuff. It will display it in order then. :)

Just a little question: although a "FULLTEXT" search is useful, did anyone ask that the results be returned in order of relevance instead of by date? Frankly, I'd prefer to see the results by date: I don't care if an item matches my search criteria 100% if it was uploaded in 2001... and may not be available any more.
