Hi All,

My images don't have this professional look that so many online here do, despite checking off most render options. How do people get that look? Is it lighting? Post-work? A camera setting? Mine seem ok until I compare them to others here.

The difference is subtle, but I can't get beyond it. There are more images at my website if you want to see what I mean.

Vue4Pro seems to give the best looking renders with the new improved engine. Also, rendering in ultra mode and using shadow mapping really helps personally I use 600dpi at a larger size than needed then resized in photo shop at the highest quality setting seems to be a helpful technique as well. I found this tutorial very helpful in controlling the lighting in scenes:

It is definitely due in large part to lighting. A well controled lighting system in a scene goes a long way to giving it a more professional look. There are a couple of books out there about the basics of lighting for computer graphics ( a quick search in the archives of the forum and in the backroom page will give you references ). Don't forget a few excellent tutorials about lighting in Vue, including the reference from nggalai (see link).

Don't forget to aquire some photography knowledge too. The principles for composition and lighting were established long before computers! I took a look at your site and I feel a few tweaks to the way you compose your scenes will benefit. Best Wishes.
