Subject: Vue Newbie -> Does Increasing RAM Speed Up Render Time?

Hello Everyone, I hope this is not a foolish question, but would increasing the RAM on my system speed up my render time? I am running Vue 4.1 on a 1 gig PC with 500 megs of RAM. My operating system is XP if that matters. I am thinking of going to 2 gigs of RAM. Thanks for taking the time to read this! :) Jay

Yes! The more RAM you have the faster 3D programs render. I would suggest upgrading to a minimum of 1 gig of ram, 2 would be better, (providing your motherboard will handle it) I run an AMD 1.2 with 1gig of Ram, and it work pretty well. James

Rendering is an extremely complex and time consuming process by which your PC converts the 3D geometrical description of the scene into a 2D picture. Ram can really assist in (making) the scene and contribute as well to the render however I would study the manual on rendering as most of the time the speed has to do with the multitude of settings you can create in the Render Options menu. Vue4Pro seems to take much more ram than Vue4 I guess it really depends on you and the type of scenes you wish to create. I am currently working on a 4.6 million polygon scene in Vue4pro and with the quality settings I prefer for prints this scene will take about 15 days to render with 1 gig of ram on my XP OS. :O) Regards.
