Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 01 9:20 pm)
$169.99 on amazon.com.but on amazon.co.uk its 349.99.now on the FXConverter - 164 Currency Converter Results today 349.99 British Pound = 627.707 US Dollar. WHY DO I GET THE FEELING UK USERS ARE GETTING "SHAFTED" ....... so if you know anyone in the states , get them to get for you. i would like to say something about amazon.but it may get this message deleted;)
Periodically check EBay. A Few months ago I got Poser5 there for only $99 (new in box, never used, etc...) There's none there now, but keep checking. It turns up there quite often (although sometimes the bidding can get a bit high)

I suppose I should feel quilty for getting mine for $89. ($50 coupon from Amazon) But I can't get all those cool mags that always have the free software in it cuz I live in the boonies in the US and most of those mags are from the UK. So don't feel too bad...it all evens out in the end :) But yeah, check out ebay and maybe something will come up. Or look at other software selling sites (there's a lot out there and they're often cheaper). Good luck.
I don't think that amazon.com allows you to buy software from europe. I was in the same position a few months back and ended up buying my P5 upgrade through CL.
Incidentally, can anyone think of an effective way to lobby CL for a less disparate pricing policy for Poser 6? (350 is better than amazon, but still clocks in at about $440).
Compare the prices for Adobe Photoshop, or Macromedia Dreamweaver, or Quark Express. This price difference happens with almost all software. It's because of the cost of setting up distribution in different countries, and setting up support options in those countries. The US has a HUGE potential customer base and potential for very large quantity of sales so can have lower per unit distribution and support costs and hence lower prices. On the other hand in the US we tend to pay a lot more for European imports.
Hmmm... still not convinced, I'm afraid. I'm certainly not an expert in international commerce, however: - Surely the EU has a HUGE potential customer base? - I don't understand how asymmetrical distribution costs apply to downloadable products. - Other software products (e.g. Paint Shop Pro and most computer games) are similarily priced in the US and Europe.
uh, i tested a bit poser 5 at a friend place, he let me play with it a few moments one afternoon... too much things i did bnot know, too many new features to learn.. still did not manage to master what i needed to learn in p4... will stay in it, even if there is more challenge in simple things compared to poser 5 :)***and yes it is strange to see such price differences :)
