I have just ordered Poser5 for Mac OSX & I was wondering if my old Daz products will install & work well with Poser5 (Michael 2, Victoria 2, Millennium Dragon, Daz Gorrilla, various clothing & hair etc..). Daz are little ambiguous in their FAQ section of their web site & Curious Labs claim to be backwards compatible. Any problems encountered? Mac users have you had any problems with the Vise installers installing from classic to an OSX disc? Anything that wont work? I would be gratefull for any thoughts or advice, Thaks in advance, Grav.

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

I'm not a Mac user, but I haven't had any problems using DAZ products in P5. I've actually found that the "heavy" meshes, like the Mil Dragon and the new unimesh figures actually work better for me in P5 than in P4.

Most stuff should work just fine including the Vise installers, as long as you have OS 9 installed also. The installers run fine in Classic. Myself I almost always install to the desktop and then move the files to where I want them. Some people, including me, had trouble with the Mihai hair that won't render in Firefly, but there is a workaround for it. An excellent tutorial for Firefly is at the link.

I'm a PC guy too, but the great feature about P5, and I'm sure its in the mac version, is that you can leave P4 where it is and just link your P5 library to the P4 runtime. In fact, I'm so dependent on the P4 runtime that even now, more than a year after the P5 release, I still install new stuff to the P4 runtime directory just for continuity.

So don't upgrade, do a clean install. The option is there on the PC version to either upgrade or run P5 in a new directory. New directory is the way to go.

Thanks everyone for your reply's. That certainly puts my mind at ease (& my wallet). Thanks MarianneR for the tutorial link, I have a few dodgy haircuts that may need the firefly fix. I'm waiting (rather impatiently like a little child) for Poser5 to arrive now. Thanks again, Grav
