This photo was taken at MacWorld CreativePro Conference & Expo 2003 (not by me either!). It pretty much speaks for itself! http://www.coolmacintosh.com/mwny03pics/macworldcreativeproexpopictures072203-Pages/Image47.html Fingers crossed!

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 9:30 PM

Thanks for the link....however isn't this new program just for Macs?

Beanzvision ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 9:33 PM

I hope not but i think your right! Please Eric give us a pc version!

pakled ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 9:35 PM

be a shame to ignore 95% of the Computer market (well, suppose they could have a linux version too..;) hope for the best..

Sadly...yes..ALMOST makes me want to go buy a mac.

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 9:38 PM

From what I have read..Eric is totally into the Mac platform. It might be awhile before a PC version of it would be out. So here's hoping and praying that he has plans with others to produce a PC version. hugs Helen

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 9:47 PM

Well I have to admit that Macs images are sharper and more vivid than a PC. For the life of me I don't understand why PC's can't have the same thing going for 'em?

Beanzvision ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 10:25 PM

I've heard once u hav mac u cant go back! :S

danamo ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 10:37 PM

Mac! Hah! They'll pry my three-button mouse out of my cold, dead hands!

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 10:39 PM

Yeah..I suppose that's a given, Beanz. :-)

unityboxer ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 10:45 PM

you know, macs do have 3 button mouses. They just don't come with them.

Vile ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 11:44 PM

Interface looks way too changed yuck!

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 03 January 2004 at 11:51 PM

Yeah, I hear ya, Vile.

"To improve and replace Bryce" Sounds like a different prog, and it certainly looks like one.

I'd rather keep using Bryce 5 on my PC than ever use Bryce 6 on a horrid Mac user interface. www.shonner.com

Hey, that's Artmatic Voyager. There is a forum here for ArtMatic programs. And it looks more like MojoWorld.

danamo ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 3:37 AM

True, it's a very different interface, but Artmatic Voyager is capable of some stunningly beautiful renders.

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 7:59 AM

Aye, this image has nothing to do with Bryce 6, its one of Eric Wenger's creations. The closest thing we've seen to Bryce 6 would be the prototype that has been shown at bryceformac.com. Ardiva, not to be rude but what you typed was ridiculous. How could a .bmp image look sharper or clearer on a Mac? That's preposterous, and not mathematically possible. Perhaps you meant that you liked their Cinema display, which also works fine for PC's?

Beanzvision ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 8:20 AM

Now that i know he lives in australia i think i'll try and track him down! :P

Lord I do love parametric landscapes! It's a real shame that Eric and Doc Mojo couldn't get MetaCreations to do this with Bryce (I would think Eric's "flat" world is completely doable in Bryce). Artmatic has been the most fun app I've used in a long time but even as a ver. 1 it's really lacking in features. The link above is to a couple AMV images I've done in the past month (all "world" file sizes are less then 32K!). BTW, the total market share for the Mac is 4.26% but almost 90% of the PC market is business and entertainment and in the 8% Creative Arts market the Mac does quite well (70-80% of all professional CG, Video and Audio companies have Macs) and the Mac usually make up about a fifth of cross platform CG sales (www.trendtrackers.com). In the "for what it's worth department", the Gamma used on a PC monitor was designed for text and charts - Mac monitor Gamma was designed for photographs. I've got no axe to grind here cause I use both platforms. Best; Dan

Ardiva ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 10:01 AM

I'm not talking about BMP files, Shadow...but that's ok..carry on. :-)

imanwillie ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 12:46 PM

"I'd rather keep using Bryce 5 on my PC than ever use Bryce 6 on a horrid Mac user interface." Surely a contradiction in terms!!! - horrid interfaces are the preserve of the artless PC software engineers! Bryce interface was developed on Mac originally a Bryce only prog- sorry but it is no coincidence why the majority of graphic designers/creatives use Macs; sorry Shonners methinks there's been slight over indulgence in grandma's cooking sherry this chrimbo. Anyway doesn't look to bad does thon artwork thangy C",)

Mrdodobird ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 3:10 PM

No! Not only on a mac! Please have it on both! Why would they do this? NOOOOO!!! (nothing against macs, but I don't have one, and don't have the money to get one and set everything all up). And the new Bryce looks like it has so much more control too! I weep. Weep weep wepp. I am now done weeping, but the tear still hangs selfishly to my eye. The words start to blur, they form an image of a skull, the symbol of death. He comes after me, yelling..."booga booga booga! Get a mac!". I yell back "Until a year ago, I thought that was a type of mcdonalds burger!". He yells back, "What?". Then we stop yelling, and all get along. Which I think is really a metaphore of life.

The new Unix-based Mac systems are breaking into new markets, It's possible to have a Mac running several different systems- OSX, OS9.x, Unix, Linux, PC, etc all on one box. Macs can use mice with as many buttons as you like.

I don't think Eric does not mean for ArtMatic Voyager to be a Bryce replacement. I believe I remember him saying it would not have primitives, or 3D mesh imports, etc. I THINK that's what he said...I'll have to find that old thread... AgentSmith

(bows deeply) Aye, Ardiva, I meant no offense, and mistyped .bmp instead of bitmap, the word. Merely, that all monitors function off of the same internal techniques, aside from the obvious differences between CRT and LCD. Dan has the right of it, in terms of Gamma, but alas Colorific has banned the gaps between my monitors and everyone elses, so I see the same thing a Mac, or C64, or TRS-80 (to name a few "big dogs") should see... But, not to be offensive to anyone, have you all been ignoring Scott's (Pendulum) threads about his proposals for Bryce 6? It's coming along wonderfully, and if anyone deserves some credit for pushing this version forward, it is Scott. Mr. Wenger may yet show his hand, but if he does, my guess is Scott will be the arm behind it. The man's got lots of drive, it's wonderful... Click this link, or check out these 'Rosity threads starring Pendulum : http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1539364 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1560095 Scott makes it quite plain that although he works with Macs, a PC port would probably hit the market simultaneously, which has been the case with all of the last few versions. Enjoy!

alvinylaya ( ) posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 11:37 PM

Doh, I really hope they release a PC and Mac version at the same time. There's no way, I'm leaving my PC. I do agree mac is awesome for graphics, I just got to much other stuff I need a PC to do =)

Ardiva ( ) posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 11:57 PM

Thanks for the reminder link, Shadow...this is the Bryce we are used to seeing. :-)

Remember folks "Artmatic Voyager" is landscapes only NO import of poser figures or other models so it may as well be terragen but NOT FREE

dan whiteside ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 12:36 PM

Neither Bryce nor Terragen had object import in the initail release. Also, the free version of Terragen is a "lite" version. It costs $70 to get images greater then1280x960, terrains larger then 513x513 and the hirez render options. And for a guy with Macular Degeneration big buttons are welcome :-) Best; Dan

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 4:20 PM

Apps, schmaps. I'll stick with Bryce 5 until a REAL Bryce 6 is released. And so far, Pendulum's work is much closer to what I'm looking for than anyone else's. Also, since I dont' own a Mac, I can't use Voyager regardless. (shrugs)

Ardiva ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 8:41 PM

I agree most heartily, Shadow! :-)
