ok why is it we're on version 5+ of Poser and i still have to 'trick' poser to get it to render to any of the other visual settings like cartoon w/ line? shouldnt it be a simple choice from the output settngs by now?

I wasn't aware you could "trick" Poser into doing anything. BTW, Very few programs have good toon rendering. Poser 6 needs a good renderer, a whole new look, open gl support, better 3rd party plug-in support (python isn't doing it) and then they would have Daz Studio totally beat. Not that they dont allready.

i don't know if poser 5 have a good enough too rendering for you, but so far with what i saw aboutit, it sounds far less a pain in the *#$ for many complex things related to anime/cartoon style (with shaders, material rooms), than it is in poser 4 non pro pack, believe me... Some peopel seems to be able to produce endless flow of good cartoon art in a breeze, like hackworthless, with poser4, me i just sweat many hours to get out a barely showable picture... anyway, part of the fun is the challenge to bend the tools you have into making what you want with them, instead of dreaming of a tool that do not exists. Human is the best tool anyway, after all the other failed :) I am still trying to get decent anime/toon results myself with this old buggy thing, and fails... now i see many people achieving very good results with either versions. Just tell us what is "good" cartoon rendering for you (with examples) so i can see what i need to aim at. also did you ever go to darkskill's website related to cellshading artists ? (forgot the link, sorry)

sigh..ok maybe the point here is being missed...whats the point of having different display modes like the cartoon one, toon with line, wire frame...etc...and then NOT make them easily renderable to... instead of it being something like a button in the render options allowing you to choose to render with whatever display option youre using you have to do it in a round about manner...make movie>render the current scene>then choose one frame..blah blah blah...it can be done, so why not just make it EASY to do... yeah there are better programs thatll do it...but thats not the issue...

It is easy. Alt + Ctrl + R or top menu > Antialias Document. Then File > Export > Image... But I know what your getting at. You cant render that way to a new window with a specified size. Its silly! Been that way a long time.

Cinema 4d has a good cartoon renderer and you don`t have to fiddle about with material settings to use it. The poser writers should have stolen-I mean copied that one.

lol..hopefully itll be an option in the future...just seems silly they havent done it yet..we've all been doing the same 'fix' for a while now...
