Subject: Looking for a Monocle.......has anyone seen one?

Hi all, I am looking for a monocle and I have tried "free-stuff" as well as the marketplace and "NO" luck. Has anyone come across one? Genny

Did you want one with the dangly chain/string? Because if it's just the eyepeice you need then I built one out of primitives for a Lord Peter Wimsey portrait. I also made a very basic morph for Mike 2 to help fit it. Or were you thinking of a jeweller's eyeglass? If you want what I've got let me know.

you can try making one using poser primitives....like the cylinder for the glass and that ring primitive for the frame...resize using dials....group em or just parent the cylinder to the ring primitive....then make a texture map for the frame....or you can just use the shader nodes since a monacle isnt that complex anyway....set the transparency of the cylinder and OK you can use a reflection map to get that light reflection on the surface...that's pretty much it for my monacle..... my version is no Colonel Klink monacle but i think itll do....

Oh, HaiGan.........it is the eyepeice and I think I could borrow something from another model for the String/chain if needed. I want it for an Iguana, to enter the Poser Challenge of the month....so......the basic morph for Mike isn't necessary, but would be greatly appreciated. (:

One of the reasons I like browsing Renderosity.... where else can you find out how to make a monocle for an iguana? :)

Biggert, thank you so much for your suggestions, but I could not model my way out of a paper bag. LOL! I don't think I have the patience to do it, or the time for that matter, so for right now.....I would like something already Made. (: genny

would something like this do?i whipped this up in 3dsmax in about five minutes...i saved it as a prop,it has seperate materials for the frame and glass...it's your's if you want it,just tell me where to send it...or give me some idea of how this should be changed and i'll whip up another to your spec...this is really simple, but smoother than one made from poser props would be....just so long as you don't want the chain too :)...that might be work

OK, so Mr Iguana is lounging over the newspaper in his monocle and smoking jacket while Mrs Iguana is knitting stockings with webby toes? :chortle: Carolly

Rodzilla's looks better than mine, it's got the little chain-loop thingie. I can still send you mine if you want, though.

Thank you Rodzilla and Haigan, I suppose I would need to try them on my Iguana to see which one looks better on him. LOL! Sending my e-mail via IM, and once again.....Thank you. (:

I'll zip it up, just want to check I used redistributable primitives first (slip up on one itty-bitty simple thing and it's all too easy to start slipping up on other stuff too).

rodzilla ( ) posted Sat, 10 January 2004 at 5:55 PM

email, file and IM sent lol...mine's from scratch,it's yours,i hereby grant you full and unrestricted rights to do WHATEVER the heck you want with it..now how's that for a EULA?

Shhh! Rodzilla! Next thing you know that monocle will be adapted for a spider... with compound lenses! ;)
