and in the morning it still hadn't finished or hardly started. So I flicked to explorer, and when I flicked back it rendered a little more than stopped, then I repeated the process, and every time I went back to poser 5 it would render a little more then stop again. This is happening now with every render I do. Love esther

It sounds like something badly wrong, maybe the rsr has been messed up some way. You might have to reinstall, but if you leave the materials poses and figures that you have already installed, and then reinstall in the same directory it wont be as bad as reinstalling everything.

Hmm, I have a mac. Where are these rsr thingies? I could just try restarting, but then I'd have to reload my figures. Well at least now I know this isn't supposed to happen. Had a feeling this was the case as it used to render fine a few days ago when I first started playing with poser 5. Hope it's not something bad bad. I don't really want to reinstall although I haven't got anything in the poser runtime except the iDAZ folder I think, and it's pointed at poser 4. I did save a couple of figures in poser 5 but I presume they're in the poser 4 folder. THey look like they are. Love esther

In my experience its a RAM problem. You can get a simple, free utility called MemX by analoguex.com and use it to free RAM while doing Renders. Also try to keep other open programs to a minimum.

i have experinced this before, but usually I just getting really peeved off and end up cntrl alt deleting it. When ever I do something worthy of rendering I always save it before I hit render in cases where this will happen. in my case I know its ram and i'm looking into getting enough so that this won't happen to me any longer.--Essie

Yes, it has. Rendering takes RAM, some figures use more RAM than others, those such as V3, M3, and S3. When I do renders of those figures, I turn everything else off, go offline and do my rendering and its a bit faster.

The thing is it actually stopped rendering. I left it on all night and it didn't finish, and my internet turned off during the night as it's only on 4 hours. I did have other stuff open, on my desk as I always do, but yesterday I was rendering pics without it stopping, and today it stops, and yet if I flick back and forth from in and out of poser 5 it renders reasonably fast, bit by bit each time I flick. Is that the same thing you experienced? Love esther

The energy saver on the MAC sometimes seems to stop Poser. I have not yet figured out why - try switching it off. MemX wont help its for windows.

I ran into this problem last night but I think it was because I used TIF files instead of GIF files for the texture on the ISO Maids dress and hose. I'm going to do a batch change and make them all transparent GIFS and try again later.

well I didn't change the figures except their dial settings and it rendered okay yesterday but just not today. Love esther I'll try turning off energy saver - that's a nice simple thing, I like the sound of that solution hehe.

I closed and reopened P5, and I also changed the sleep setting in energy saver, and I also made one of the two mil figures invisible, so I don't know which think worked but it's rendering extremely rapidly, with all my stuff still open, explorer and net on (I'm doing this) and photoshop 7 and text editor etc. Love esther

Ok, I figured out that it was the lighting. I was using Globall for the lighting and apparently it's not P5 compatible. Shucks! I love that lighting prop!!
