Subject: Poser newbie needs help

Hi there all :) I just got the millinium kids pack and installed it but something is amis! Though the figures show up in the preview window when I click on it the figure does not appier in the main window. I've notaced that some of the clothing morphs and props do the same thing. What have I done wrong? P.S. I am using poser 4 and the pro pack. Thanks, Herne

Did the DAZ auto-installer put the files into your runtime? Sometimes when I get 'invisible' figures it's because I put the .cr2 or .obj in the wrong runtime subfolder and Poser can't find it.

Yes I do and mike I have the basic vickey and mike as well as mike 3

What Millennium Kids' pack are you talking about, BTW? Where did you buy it? If it was online, can you give us the URL of the product? I ask because I don't think the DAZ store has a MilKids pack. The MilGirls and the MilBoys are sold separately. As for Vicky 2...you don't need her to get the MilGirls to work. I don't have her, but the MilGirls work fine for me.

Are you selecting the kid from the Figures -> DAZ People menu? And are you selecting the figure using the double-check mark at the bottom of the menu? Sorry if these are dopey questions, but you did say you were a newbie. :-)

I'm pretty sure that you have to have the Milgirls to use the Milboys. The boys are jusr extra morphs for the girls, and the girls need Vickie.

hehe its okay I am a newbie :) Yes I am doing "all of the above" I'll try to get mil girls (soon as I have some more flush money) and see if that works.

Well, darn. It doesn't say that in the store. It says they were built off the Vickie mesh, and are compatible for textures, clothing, etc., but it doesn't say you have to own Vickie to use the MilGirls. However, the Critical Depth review does say you have to own the MilGirls to use the MilBoys. Herne, DAZ will give you a refund if you e-mail them and explain the problem. (And they ought to change the product page to make it clear that the MilGirls is a required product for the MilBoys.) Lousy timing, too. Up until Dec. 31, they were offering the MilGirls free if you bought the Clea character for $8. :-(

I just looked at the .cr2 for my Preteen Mil Boy and it points to the PT Mil Girl .obj, and then I reinstalled my Mil Boys to a folder and there are no geometries included. However, my milboys .exe was bought around November 2001, and the file is ~23mb, the download listed at DAZ now says it's ~30mb, so whether you get the .obj files now I don't know. I would definately fire off an email to DAZ about it, and find out what's going on.

I bought the MilBoys recently, during the 50% off sale a few weeks ago. My Preteen Boy points to the PTGirl.obj, too. So I guess you still need the MilGirls in order to use the MilBoys. The MilGirl seems to have her own OBJ, though - doesn't seem to need Vicky.

FYI...anyone who wants the MilGirls, now's your chance. DAZ is running a deal until Jan. 26. Buy "Ailsa" for $11, and get the Millennium Girls for free. Even you don't want Ailsa, this is a good price for the MilGirls. :-)
