My Robot type B character is now available in the freestuff section. I would like to have some feedback on it. It has been downloaded more than 600 times from my site and I have received _one_ mail telling me that there is something wrong with the .pz3-file. It works when I'm testing it (with Poser4). Could somebody please download it and confirm. thanks!

Yup, the .pz3 failed to load the figure. Didn't have time last night to play with it.

Just uploaded that nice robot (many thanks to share). I confirm the troubles (the attachment is when I try to open the first time). I tried to change the path, to edit the pz3 file. But I am not a specialist of that. My tests didn't work. Always blank scene. May be a cr2 file could be more easy to edit; but I am not sure. Sorry.

Wouldn't load for me even after finding the obj for it. Marque

Couldn't get it to pose. Suggestions?

bazze ( ) posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 10:53 AM

OK i think I got it fixed. I removed it from the freestuff section but you can get It from my site (www.colacola.se). You were right. The file was corrupt. I have changed it and now it should work. Please download it again from my site. You may get an error message "no groups in geom" when opening the pz3-file. Just click "OK" and the (new) model will load. thanks Anders

Cool looking robot, I really like him! thanks!

Thanks Bazze I got him, I'll try it out tonight and get back to you. 8)

When I load the pz3 I Still get asked for the OBJ file. the one named in the zip is different than the one asked for. I copied and renamed and now the pz3 opens just fine, however all I get is a scene with lights, no objects etc. hmmmmmm. I'm trying this in Poser5 since that's all I have, I know that the readme says Poser4/PP. Anybody else get the Robot working yet?

Moonbiter ( ) posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 1:20 PM

I downloaded but haven't installed it... let you know when i do.

joffry ( ) posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 4:24 PM

I downloaded it again and it's working fine in P5

Here's the robot learning to dance for his big meeting with Steph later tonight. You never know SP might want to dance with him. 8) The pz3 loads fine and it doesn't ask me to find anything. That's with P5, don't have P4 installed. 8) Catlin

Interesting. I'll try redownloading and see if it works for me.

First, I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to make a model and then offer your work for free. Thank you.

The model loads fine in Poser4 on my Macintosh. But there are problems.

Shoulders, forearms, and hands have the "Bend" and "Twist" reversed. In other words, bending the body part twists it and twisting the part bends it.

If you rotate the collar forward, it seperates from the torso. If you bend the chest, it seperates from the abdomen. And when you bend the abdomen, it seperates from the hip.

Some final thoughts. If the head has no moveable eyes or mouth, then there can be no expression. But much can be expressed with the hands if only the fingers were posable. The image of R2D2 came to mind. I mean, what could the director of Star Wars DO with it to make it expressive, other than shake it from side-to-side and go "Bleep! Bleep!"?

Just some feedback. Hope it's constructive.

thanks for all the feedback. I'm very glad that you are able to open it up. The "new" model will pop up in the free stuff section soon I hope. The robot is modelled with Wings3D and I'm quite new to making characters. I seem to make every mistake there is on the way. I'll try to fix the torso & chest thing. Thanks again! /Anders

Nice to see you've got this little dude working. Been waiting for this as a posable figure for a while. Apart from the baby-bugs it loads and renders fine in P4.

Incidenatlly [OK blatant advertsing:)] but my freebies
texture work with both the eariler obj and this version.

So go kill anders bandwidth (sorry anders!) and download it.
It's better than some of the stuff in the marketplace!

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

thanks for the nice comment! Don't worry. I have unlimited bandwith, according to my supplier anyway. :)

I was very happy to see this post: I fell in love with this little robot guy right away and I was alarmed when I couldn't get it to work. Great job, Bazze, and you too, MrSparky!
