Let's try this again ..... The animation was too big to post in my gallery, and I'm trying to get a working link to it on Geocities. This is the third try .... keep your pinkies crossed.

Ah crap .... geocities is being a pain. Hold on .... I'll fix this.

I'm on dial up so I had to wait a few minutes for it to download but it was well worth the wait. That's really cool Ricky, I love it!

Sorry about that. I'm currently working on an improvement to the animation .... making it look more like glass. I'm sure I won't finish it until tomorrow (mostly because I have to go to bed now .... I have to work tomorrow). But, I will get one frame posted to my gallery as an abstract tonight. I'm glad you liked it. And thanks again to Ang for getting me reinspired.

To smooth out the transition, you might want to run the animation frames in reverse from the end, then remove the last frame and it should segue right into the beginning frame seamlessly. Just $.02

Fractals will always amaze me!

Neat!!!

No Thank you Ricky! That is so cool, I can't wait to learn how to animate mine. I'm with you, I want to get one that has the glass look. We have artisans around here and a few stores sell hand made kaleidescopes for hundreds of dollars but of course they are so beautiful with all there glassy baubbles.

BabaLouie ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 7:23 AM

Oh yeah, now that is completely cool. the second link has been bandwidth limited but the first link still worked. Very very very neat. Is a tutorial in the making? BabaLouie

Which is why there are time I really hate Geocities. I suggest right clicking on the first link and just saving the gif to your own PC, and running it there. Tresamie, I am working on one that will run back and forth without a transition gap, also working on the textures so that they are more stained glass-like. A link to one frame is posted. However, I am having a few lighting problems when I use the glass texture. I think I know where the problems lie and will have the whole thing working by tonight (I hope). I have to go up to Irvine for the day to see a client, so I can't work on it till I get back.

OK I see R'osity has been doing its normal thing, my last comment didn't make the cut, but what I said was This is fun. I love kaleidoscopes. Must get into animation, somehow.

This kaleidoscope animation is excellent Rickymaveety. Nice work. Wade

You done good, Ricky!

After experimenting a little, I am finding how much I have to resize and compress in order to make something I can post to my gallery. It does tend to suck a lot of the life out of the piece, but I'll probably post a few of the final animations at the gallery and then follow up with a still at the full render size so that people can get a better idea of the detail. I will post my animation from the tutorial tomorrow.
