It's finished and it's posted. Sorry, but posted to geocities (argh). I suppose if the powers that be want it, and it's not too difficult to put it in a form that they could post, it would be ok by me to post it with the other tutorials here at Renderosity. In any event ... let me know if you think it's unclear or if I made a ton of typos or whatever. Here's one of the images from the tut .... I rather like the way it turned out.

Yes Ricky it's telling me that the site is temporarily unavailable. That's the good old geocites for you, but never mind I'll just try it again later. Thank you for all your efforts in trying to educate the rabble here. 8) Catlin

It figures .... I've probably used my bandwidth for the day and they are penalizing me by blocking my site for an hour or so. It was likely from the size of the animated gifs. Oh well. Access to the tutorial (after the penalty period wears off) shouldn't cause quite so much of a problem. And, hey, I learn just as much from the rabble that hangs around here than I could ever teach.

Ricky, why don't you submit the tutorial to Renderosity, they can always use more Bryce tuts on site...:)

That's what I was wondering ... what's involved for doing that? It's in an HTML format (obviously), but do they require any particular formatting or paragraph format or whatever? Or, do I just submit the link? What's the scoop? Or, are you guys going to make me figure all this out on my own??

OK .... I looked at the form for submitting a tutorial, but other than a description and a thumbnail, I don't see how your actual tutorial is submitted. There is no spot for a link to the html or for you to upload html pages to them. It's a tad confusing.

That's just the first page of stuff to do, once you fill that out, hit add, and it will take you through the steps, you will basically type it all in on site, or do what I did, make a notepad version and cut and paste. You can work on the tutorial for as long as it takes to finish it, and when you're totally done, that's when you submit it. It allows editing and re-arranging pages etc. and it's all stored on site.... really easy, if I can do it, anyone can, give it a shot....:)

Oh, well, since mine is set up in Frontpage, and is all on one page, I suppose it would be fairly easy to just cut and paste the whole thing in. Right?

Just can't use html, I think, it's been awhile since I did my last tutorial here, although I was thinking of posting one for terrains and lattices....besides what's the worse that can happen? I don't think you can break the page for tutorials, jump in!

I could always cut and paste into something and remove the html code. That's not a problem. I'll look into it tomorrow night.

I just started the tutorial for terrains and lattices and saved what I had until I can get the images to go with it. The process is very easy, go ahead and do your first page with the blurb on what it's about etc., that way you can see how it works and plan your text accordingly.

Ricky, I took a quick look but this is all I could find on tuts.

rickymaveety ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 12:25 AM

Thanks, Zhann. I'll use that link to help me sort out and reformat my tutorial. As it is, it would not fit what they want (one image per page and all).

Electric scope!! Looks like you used something from chaoscope for your texture ... am I right??? I was planning to do that too. After I try out a few stained glass textures and a photo or two.

you can use any word processor you want, and then cut and paste into the tutorial pages; and pics can be cut and pasted as well, only limitation is 1 to a page..the hard part is getting someone to approve them, but I've been lucky so far..;)

thank you for taking the time to create the tutorial. it is very informative.

Yep Ricky! 8) I was sure I wouldn't be the only one to think that your tutorial begs to use chaoscope for textures. Thanks again for sharing this tutorial!!!
