Subject: Obj weirdness...

Hi, I made a character a long while ago on the V2 base. Changed the "Body" name from Vicky2 (or whatever it's called) to the new name so the figure could be ID'd easier in the figure pull down menu. I then saved this character to a folder and everything was fine... Until I reloaded Poser on a new PC and tried to move her. First of all I was getting nothing but a can't fing ***.obj (Same error if you haven't got the geom obj in the correct place) V3 came out and I kind of forgot the problem. I've just done the same thing with the V3 chara, editing the "body" name and again I've moved the character to a different folder, same problem. Taking things a little deeper this time I decided to try to get to the bottom of things. Whenever the body name is changed and saved to a folder, it appears to create the .obj file in the folder the character is saved to. (This is probably real old news to most of you). What I'm asking (I know it took a while!) Is it the CR2 file that holds the information on where to look for the OBJ? Idealy I'd like to make a new folder in geomitries and put all my modified obj's there. Can anyone tell me what the line is I need to change? The CR2 file is huge and extremely confusing. Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes the Pro Pack does that :)

Just open the CR2 in a text editor (Wordpad) and search for "OBJ". You'll very quickly find the two instances of the file reference lines that have to be changed. Save as type "Text Document" to avoid any unwanted formatting. If your editor insists on giving the file extension TXT you can change it back to CR2 in Windows Explorer. Sometimes placing "quotes.cr2" around the name will force the extension to be saved correctly.
