I tried installing it on my Power Mac 6100 (with a G3 upgrade card) and got a menulib not found message when I tried to open the program after installation. I then reinstalled the original program and reinstalled the patch. Same results. I am going to trash every thing and reinstall Bryce 4.0 unless anyone has some advice.

Okay... The patch installed without a hitch. loaded with no problems at all. it has a few new features like importing photoshop gradients for the lights(pretty cool) a few new mapping modes in the materials editor, some more control over the starfield and comets inthe sky lab. and some new formats to export. Works fine for me . Hawkfyr

I got the same results that Tom has. But I stil need to update the Materials (worst part!)

I had no trouble last night. I took the .hqx version. I updated from 4.01 to 4.1. The only problem I had was that the updater reset my memory allocations to 32 mg from 100 mg. So Bryce was slow and and unstable until I figured out what had changed. I'm on a first generation G3 running 0S 9.

robertzavala, I see the patch is for the US versions only, Are you running a different version? Hawkfyr

hawkfyr, No, it's a US version. I also installed the patch on a G3 tower and had no problem. The instructions called for the original CD ROM to be present but it wasn't necessary. Still haven't figured out the problem on the 6100 though.

Did a Mac install, no problem.

Has the patch modified your gamma settings with Bryce? I don't mean rendering, I mean, like in my materials editor, picture editor, and terrain editor. They look considerably darker after I Installed the patch. Not really a problem , Just curious if it happend to anyone else. Hawkfyr

I haven't noticed any changes in the gamma settings. The only thing that I noticed was the memory allocation being reset to default settings.

hi guys/gals the patch has a different gamma (or possibly contrast) setting for the interface. You lose the advanced display modes. You lose about 10% render time, and the mac problem described at the top is either an OS invalidity problem or the code is incorrect. Meaning it doesnt work on versions below 8.5 even tho its says it will work on mac 7.5 and up. love the new mapping modes! The images are slightly crisper in tone. Stablility is the same as the earlier version...Ive seen some of the light w/ gradient renders..they rock! Didnt really see any difference in the starmodes. all in all, its ok, but the losses are probably not worth the upgrade for most...I did encounter several problems with the upgrade which I also found the workaround to. I reviewed this for everyone (including screen shots) for those that were afraid to load it. Its on the index page of my site. http://www.brycetech.com/ :) Brycetech
