Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 11:02 am)
Hmmmm. Poser and windoze, both unstable and prone to crashing. Seems like getting rid of one of the crash causers makes sense. windoze being the obvious one to eliminate. I'd love to see it, it would mean I could dump XP and convert that machine to Linux too. Not being a programmer, I can't help there, but, being a Linux user, I can sure as hell root for them.
I tried using wine some time ago. I was skeptical on the whole concept. I used my Windows-installed working Poser installation as a basis and just tried to get it starting in Linux using wine. Fat chance ... it would simple have required too much work to get wine to accept Poser. I gave up. I'm currently using w2kpro ... and the only reason why I haven't switched to using Linux is ... tadaa ... Poser. Being a programmer I might be of some use, but I'm too skeptical and thus probably only a negative influence to such and endeavor. Getting the damn thing working would be most challenging part ... I mean getting Python installed and Poser using scripts would be a really minor thingie after that.
Yeh. Poser being a mac-port to windows originally and having memory leaking problems anyways ... using linux is probably not a remedy for those inherent problems. Also ... thinking the Python scenario again... one would need to use Poser-Python and run it in wine. Python in linux will not do, IMO, since the scripts need to talk to poser and vice versa.
Ok, did some digging...
