I see we have a new moderator listed up at the top of the page GonWaki. Just wanted to say hi and wondered if there was some announcement that I had missed. At any rate, Hi! I took a look at your gallery and you have some nice photos there. I really like Forgotten Creek, even if it's just a WIP. Good luck with your new duties. We don't often bite. :-) jon

Hey Karl I too visited your artist page and gallery. Lots of ideas are expressed here. I was sorry to see Crescent go. Hope you enjoy your tour.

Thanks for the welcome and comments on some of my gallery photos. Like everyone here, I was surprised by Crescent's resignation. I just hope everything goes well! With few exceptions, I am unknown to members of this forum. Many of you may even wonder where I came from and how I managed to become the moderator of this forum. Let me try to explain. During the past 18 months, I have been fortunate to be a member of Renderosity Magazines staff. My magazine "career" began shortly after the magazines third issue was started. Initially, I was assigned to serve as a guide - assisting authors in making the publication deadline and providing suggestions when needed. Soon afterward, I was tapped to help with some light editing. [The true editing star of Renderosity Magazine is dialyn. Without her, wed all be lost!] More recently I have become the Managing Editor of the magazine, a job I take seriously. There was no notice because everything happened so quickly. On Thursday (1/8), I found out that I was being considered. My appointment was approved by Saturday evening. In my wildest dreams I never expected things to move so fast. It would probably be a safe bet that nobody here expected it either. Thats the story of how I came to be here. [Ok, I cannot lie. What REALLY happened is that I fell asleep and was unable to defend myself when the finger pointing started.] I welcome the opportunity to serve everyone participating in this forum and members of the community overall. To that end, if I can be of assistance, send a message or email, wave a flag, or toss a pie my way (chocolate will work in a pinch). Karl

Hope you enjoy your stay here. I hope you're as active a moderator as Crescent was...her input was invaluable (actually, I should say "is" because I am hoping she visits us often in between working on her trilogy). It's a nice group here...we only run amok every other Friday. Are we due, gang?

[Ok, I cannot lie. What REALLY happened is that I fell asleep and was unable to defend myself when the finger pointing started.] Yeah, I know how that goes! ;-) BTW: If the other Mods tell you that you have to fill the jello pool with polka dot lemon-lime flavor, it's a trick, just like left-handed spanners. The best you can get is zebra stripes. ;-) Don't worry, this is a great bunch of people! I'm probably the least behaved of the lot, actually. Best of luck (not that you'll need it here!) Cres

Nice to see you GonWaki. Welcome to the forum :-) Shanna :-)

Thanks Cres and Shanna! Zebra stripes are an improvement over plain lime... Once I get caught up with all the past threads I'll be posting more. I just need a little time to figure out who's who and what's been going on between my visits here (this was one of the few forums I ever left viewable). While I'm primarily on during the evening, starting next week I will be checking in periodically throughout the day. I buckled and gave up on the idea of using the cell phone to access the 'net (the cell phone's 14.4 modem is too slow for this sort of work).

Trying to figure out who's who, hunh? Well, if it helps, I wander by every once in a while, make doldrumy and/or snarky comments suitable to a vetran wannabe, and then wander off again. I've got six children, have two pro sales of short stuff, (one fiction, one non-), and primarily write fantasy (although the next book on my to write queue is space opera.) Nice to meetcha!

What REALLY happened is that I fell asleep and was unable to defend myself when the finger pointing started. Yes, it is always dangerous to miss a staff meeting. :-) chocolate will work in a pinch Ah, a worthy fellow, indeed. You'll fit right in. jon
