I need advice on how to set up flexible elements from experienced Poser users.

I made an item with about 15 morphs to make it very versatile. Technically I made a *.cr2 file with external geometry to be able to apply different materials by simply using MAT files.

The *.obj has a reasonable size (about 500kByte), but the *.cr2 got quite heavy (4MByte) because of the morphs.

As this is a building part, it is intended to be used several times in a scene, so I'm searching for a solution.

I see 3 options up till yet:

  • leave it as it is (very versatile, but maybe a bit heavy in scenes)
  • use an injection system (larger size with only the needed morphs, about 10 pairs of Morph INJ/REM)
  • use the most popular morph combinations for making separate *.obj and *.cr2 files without morphs (about 25 variations for the same elements).

Any other suggestions?

You can see more details on the provided link. As this question concerns a product I make, I cannot post this here, but the response in the Product Showcase Forum was quite poor. I think most of the experts are here.

Please give your comment and tell me your view on things

4 megabytes is big but it isn`t huge for a cr2, I had a cr2 for victoria 3 that was more than 20 megabytes.

I personally prefer INJ/REM and MAT files, but then I'm running P5 (giving me the flexibility of sub-directories) and I'm on a fast machine. Looks good, by the way.

sebastel, unfortunately these morphs are a bit complex and magnets are not exact enough. I made the morphs with C4D and the Morphloader plugin. You're right xantor, but if you want to have 10 or more of these columns in a hall, you may be running into troubles. That's what I was afraid of. karen, INJ/REM files seemed to me the best idea until yet, but during this discussion, I had a forth idea and I'll give it a try. I would like to reroute the discussion to the original thread (Just follow the link). Thanks for your help and nice comments - Walter
