Just got a spoof email from "Paypal", (actually says from "service") with a message title of "Confirm Your Information!" The body of the message is an HTML document that looks official, and it contains two links in the How To Confirm Your Information area. The first link DOES NOT go to PayPal's site, it goes to an IP address. If you receive this email, DO NOT update your information ... According to PayPal's site, you can report spoof emails by forwarding the entire message to spoof@paypal.com. Just a heads up. I wasn't sure where to post this, but I think it's important for everyone.

I think there's a related one with subject line "Account Terminated" or similar.

What's the site it sends you to?

I received confirmation from PayPal that it was a spoof message and it is under investigation. When you click the link, it goes to an IP address (for example, http://111.111.1.11 instead of www.paypal.com). I hesitate to post the actual IP address because it is under now under investigation.

Paypal ALAWYS USES YOUR NAME, and the link, if any, ALWAYS has "https://" the 'S' after the regular http means it's a secure IP address.....

I algo got one from Ebay with the Ebay Info as the title that is also a scam as well today.

I traced a couple of such mails to Romania (and forwarded the mails to Ebay).

"the 'S' after the regular http means it's a secure IP address....." True, but it could still be a scam. My partner got the Ebay version of this with an https link, which Ebay still said was a fake. Just don't use these links at all; if you get one of these emails, log on to your account at the actual site (Ebay/Paypal) and see if there really is a problem there. m.
