How do you use these !%$&* emoticons near the top of the page? I tried everything and it still came up as a square with a red x in it.

Little Dragon, you have a great set of gifs there (instagiber.net). Is it okay if we use some of them? Or maybe you would add them to Kixum's sets of gifs?

They're not mine ... you would have to ask the site owner.

The only emoticon I've ever created is the cheshire, shown above. You can have that one, if you want it.

Ignore the

...that's extra coding for breaks in the line and you don't need it. Cute emoticon, though. I wasn't sure what would turn up. :)

Bryde ( ) posted Mon, 19 January 2004 at 6:16 AM

If you use the emoticons from that Crack's Smilies site, make sure they allow direct linking - most hosts hate that, cause they don't get anything but have to pay the bill for the bandwidth usage...

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 19 January 2004 at 8:54 AM

You're right, of course. Some places allow direct linking and some don't, and Bryde is right about the reason. Better idea is, if it is permitted, download the graphic, store it at your own website (or I use the file server service here) and then do a link so you aren't draining someone else's bandwith.

Phantast ( ) posted Mon, 19 January 2004 at 10:15 AM

I rather assumed that most people with smilie sites would be expecting direct linking, unless they say "don't do it". A smilie is so small, the bandwidth comsumption ought not to be an issue.
