Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 01 9:10 pm)
Actually it was version 6 of LW that introduced the new format. Poser only supports the earlier 5.x style .lwo. If you have LW 6.x or higher, you can save out as 5.0 .lwo, but note the 5.0 .lwo support neither groups nor UV maps. If you have LW 7.5, a better option is export as wavefront object .obj, which supports both groups and uv maps and works pretty well for Poser. The error message is confusing, Poser doesn't have a plugin that supports 6.x style .lwo so it just kind of a generic error. Poser currently doesn't have a plugin capable of importing 6.x LW objects. You might want to try the demo version of deep exploration (see link) this program can load view and save many 3D formats, including LW 6+ and Wavefront and 3DS. If I recall, the Demo halves the objects resolution on a save but that might not be too horrible for a statue. I think it's also limited to 30 days. At least that's the way I remember it, been awhile, they might of changed it. Regards- LEmurtekActually it was version 6 of LW that introduced the new format.
D'oh! Off by one, as usual.
Accutrans does a fairly good job of conversion, also. The download is trialware and fully-functional for 30 days. I recently used it to convert a trueSpace file; it even consolidated all the materials on request.
Lemurtek! Long time no see. How are the gene-splicing projects coming along?
Hey LD! Things are progressing, though slowly. I toasted my workstation a while back, so now my PII internet box is having to serve double duty, so everything is moving a little slower. Hopefully I'll have that situation resolved shortly. (I better, I've got so many ideas, my head's gonna explode if I don't get 'em outta there and into the 'puter! :) Regards- Lemurtek

Ok, three -in-one question time (seems appropriate, what with it being sunday...) 1. I've been trying to import a .lwo object into P5 with absolutely no success. Is there a secret here? 2. I keep being informed by the software that I don't have an .lwo plug in...according to Curious Labs website, they'll get back to every on on the plug ins topic. Where do I get this plug in? 3. I ABSOLUTLY must clear out some files from my runtimes. Is there any way to do this and be sure to get all the associated files for each goodie? Perhaps some freeware program that will read the runtime, find all the loose bits, let you click on the goodie and it will remove it and all its traces? If there isn't one of these, why hasn't one of the geniuses in the groups created one yet....Hmmmmmmmm?? Tony O
