Hey guys....I think i lost a file...I've tried renaming, and no luck, it just wont' load... Anyone feel like confirming my suspicions? the above pic is what i know...the file size of around 25mb, and NOTHING in the window when the file is opened...(and no, the camera's not facing wrong, it shows a total of 2 objects in the little status bar, and for 25 megs, there was ALOT more then 2 there..lol) Thanks Jen

Maybe open a new scene and try to merge the one that won't open? Hate it when this happens... Peggy

I'd try the merge Peggy mentioned see if any happens. I don't want to say this but I think you need to off load all your Bryce stuff to disk, including that one, unistall Bryce and then reinstall with the patch...also do you defrag your disk once a month? When it's gets all wonkers and everything goes everywhere, because you delete this or that, sometimes Bryce forgets where parts of the files are stored. Disk maintainence is a must with 3d apps, they eat up so much space...can't hurt...

Yea, i made a mistake while playing with that picture...I saved the textured version of my new clock into the preset library, then started deleting the couple untextured ones while i was in there...i got back out, and rendered the image and all, saved before i closed bryce and everything, and today, nothing making up a 25mb file...lol And i defrag constantly...LOL I'm kinds like a computer maintenance geek...anytime i get some kind of error more then once, i run to housecall, run a scan, then run system maintenance...LOL The complete deleting temp files, scan dick, defrag...hahahah I even went in today, and organized my exe files folder i made...LOL I keep a copy of the downloaded exe file for ANY program i download, rather then clicking open and run, so that if i ever need to reinstall it, i dont' have to find it and wait for the download again. (picked up that habit when i was on dial-up lol) oooo i wonder if i moved something i shouldn't have?? nahh, i don't think so, all it was was the original install files, not any actual program files... lol i better check all my scene files to see if it's all of them, or just the one....although this one didn't even save a bmp of the rendered version, so it may be just this one... will let ya know...lol Jen

I've been having a few wierd problems with Bryce recently, like earlier today. I've been working on quite a large file that contains 2 Poser figures and 3 Sixus1 figures with a building structure I made with Br primitives. I saved it, made corrections, and saved again, only this time instead of going to the folder I save all my Bryce work in it went to my images folder and the image title was "untitled". I save sequencially so it should have been titled item18.br5. I think maybe my drive is getting too overcrowded 'cos I'm also a mantenance geek when it comes to cleaning up and things like this shouldn't happen. Hope you get it sorted Jen. 8) Catlin

Jen, unless you are using Win ME or later (and your HD is formatted using NTFS) don't bother with defrag. it won't/doesn't work. its a well known lie that in win 95/98se the disk defrag doesn't do anything other than waste 5 or 6 hours of perfectly good CPU time. Also check your preset files for a *.tmp file. If you saved it to the presets, it can take Bryce a loooooong time to finish writing the info to the file. If you turned Bryce off before it was done writing to the file, it may be gone or corrupt. A really large tmp file can also cause it to not load. If I save a model to the presets, I always turn right around and export it out and back up that file on CD. Peggy

my pc once crashed when i was copying a file from a CD to the HD. The resulting dead folder claimed to be 70 terabytes which was plainly hogswash because the disc was only 3Gb. virtual harddisking... hmmm... it was MY idea mr gates! I wish I had kept the screenshot now, no-one believes me when i mention it. John
