Subject: monthy challenge!? have you noticed???

PandaPride ( ) posted Fri, 23 January 2004 at 7:25 AM · edited Tue, 14 January 2025 at 9:54 AM

Well I have been keeping up with the monthy challenge and there was this completely beautiful family one done with the mom dad and baby who was breast feeding, seems they had to change it... my question is, what's wrong with that? It was a beatiful family picture, and breastfeeding is a perfectly natural thing. It has occured since the beggging of time. It wasn't a complete nude, nor did it scream volger. As a mother who breats fed all 3 of her children, I see nothing wrong with the natural and beautiful content of that contest entry. And I was rather upset to see it gone and replaced by another without the breast feeding. Breast feeding as become a more open and publically exceptalbe practice over time. and to be prefectly honest with you I say koodoz to the first contest entry that was posted with the breast feeding. It was beautiful and it took my breath away to see how stunning the true beauty of life can finally be expressed. THus it was taken down.... now tell me really, what is wrong with breast feeding?--Essie

I answer to your questions. nothing and nothing

Maybe it wasn't removed because of that...? Maybe it was removed because the creator didn't like the original design? Maybe they wanted to change a few things and removed it for that reason. I dunno, those are just some other possible explanations. I don't find anything wrong with breast feeding. Honestly, I think it's incredibly precious and I wish I could have seen the image you are referring to.

oh man it was a great image! my vote was in for it! but today when I went back to look around in the postings, I saw that i was removed and another one was in its' place. Which kind of upset me...because I really loved that one and I got to wondering why was it taken down? I can understand if it was for reasons of maybe coyright stuff used, etc,, but for the simple fact that a little tata was showing,,, so what breast feeding is natural without it most of us wouldn't be here. If our ancestors from the begining of time had't breast fed, our families in turn wouldn't have grown into what we are today.--Essie

I can only assume it was the "no touching" part of the TOS. though how anyone could take breast feeding and sexual contact and mix them up is beyond me.

The rules say "No Nudity". Simple as that. Whether or not it's natural, the best thing for baby, non-sexual, non-vulgar, it's still considered nudity.

well don't you think that when the contest entry was turned it that it shouldn't have been posted in the first place due to the nudeity? It does say when you submit something that if your entry is approved you will recieve an email about it and it will be posted. in which case I never really have, but still it should have been looked over and thought of before it got this far~!

Hello everyone :) It was my image and yes it was taken down because of nudity. I'm okay with that, I knew when I posted it would be a controversial image, and I knew there was a chance it would get pulled. I promised I wouldn't make a fuss about it and I wont :) I posted a slightly modified version of the picture and plan to post the original in my gallery when the contest os over. But thanks you all very much for your support on the issue. I agree with you, but I also know the rules say to nudity period. Good luck in the contest!

Aw thanks :) I really liked it too .. I came up with the idea in December, but did not get around to rendring it. The original concept wasn't supposed to have the father in the picture, but when this challenge came up I couldn't resist adding him in too.. I think it added that special something to the pic ;)

I've never considered breast feeding to be "nudity". Women show more breast at the beach than the do breastfeeding most of the time. I mean, yeah, it's a breast, but there's a baby's head on the end, how "nude" can it possibly be?! Most places have laws in place to protect public breastfeeding, despite also having public nudity laws... Oh, well. Whatever. It's not like Renderosity's rules have to make sense or their decisions have to be logical. bonni

Actually, I had a breast-feeding one waiting in the wings and decided against it because I figured it would be against the rules for the contest and didn't want to change the image to suit the rules. :( Wound up posting it in the galleries instead. Breastfed both of mine. My friend and I used to sit on the beach at Tybee Island, under an umbrella, and used a light blanket to enable discreet nursing. Meanwhile women would walk down the beach in thongs, tiny bikini tops, and showed more skin than we did. Still, who got stared at like we were doing something terrible? We did! :/

it really is a shame that people still look on it like that, but it is also those people who never stoped to think that if our ansenstors hadn't done that our family line wouldn't be here. Breast feeding has been going on since the begining of time, and it's beautiful and natural. I breast fed all 3 of mine for the first 6 months of their lives and I'd never once take that back. --Essie

Breastfeeding really is beautiful. I just wanted to also share that although I didn't BF my first one, being uneducated and young, I did BF my second for 2 years. I am also currently BFing my third baby who is 19 months old, and the inspiration for my picture :D

This is a great thread. This is one occasion where the rules dont seem to work well, and Im open for ideas. Heres the link to the challenge rules. http://market.renderosity.com/%7Epzr/backroom/html/challengerules.htm When this challenge started up, we discussed the rules in forum. In one corner of the ring was the group that thought a specific rule would mean counting breast polygons in a hyper technical interpretation to see if the image was in or out. In the other corner was the group that thought "taste police" should not be judging images for entry based on the personal taste of the challenge manager. Both views are quite valid. The compromise was a rule defined clearly enough so that folks knew what would work and lose enough so that there was some very limited leeway. The nudity definition bans bare breast below the areola line and allows for deep cleavage (which is in the center of the chest). The amount of deep cleavage allowed is discretionary. It does not allow the lower portion of the breast to be shown on the side or even a halter top with the boobies sticking out on the bottom. The challenge rule also says "This is open to all ages and viewing by family and minors. Keep it clean and keep it classy. If you push the limit and the image draws attention to the limit, you may be asked to make adjustments." Just so you know, I was asked about the image idea before it was posted. I said I'd take a look. I looked at the portrait of breast feeding, the artist's words that she wished she had one of those portraits done, and the theme of family portraits, and initially approved the image knowing that it was a polygon or two over the line. I saw that the nipple and areola were washed out and thought the deep cleavage exception could be used in this one instance. The artist knew it would be controversial and I posted it. However, it was brought to my attention by several that the image did not technically fit the rule so it was pulled in an effort to be even handed with the wording of the rules. No rule is perfect and no person who measures an image based on a rule is perfect. I have always tried to give the benefit of the doubt to the artist. I do not always call it right though. I have asked some to modify who were technically ok with the definition but close enough that it drew attention, and I have posted some that might be technically a polygon or two over the line (but not particularly noticeable). This image simply was caught in the middle of a gray area and that happens on occasion. We can talk another time on whether or not there should be some additional discretion for the challenge managers, or if the rule should remain as it is. Either will draw criticism which I do not mind. It is your challenge and I am simply here to help.
