I did this in Bryce a while ago, but it imports into Carrara nicely. Bryce, Photoshop,Illustrator,Kai's Power Tools 3 gradient designer were all that was needed. you create a grayscale image 512x512 of a sideview of a wave and import it as height map in the symmetrical lattice in Bryce.
