Subject: Problems with the Free Stuff

Harts4Life ( ) posted Mon, 19 January 2004 at 10:03 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 6:55 AM

I want to start off by saying that it is great that there is a free stuff section here, so that people can share their creations with the rest of the Poser community. The biggest problem I'm having though, is that approximately 98% of the items available for free are dependant on the Millenium figures of Victoria and Michael. Not everyone has these figures, and because you have to purchase them, not everyone can just go get them at the drop of a hat. The number of things made for the regular Poser figures, be they P4 or the Don/Judy figures is disappointing, and I'm putting the challenge out to everyone to leave Victoria and Michael alone for a while, and try to come up with some items for Poser/Posette and Don/Judy. Please! Thanks for letting me rant! Adam

Fair point. Do you run Poser 5?

Wolf359 I am afraid I do not understand your point. Why would no paid stuff mean no free stuff?

I, too would like to see more for don and judy and posette etc.

Best thing to do is look at some of the first things submitted to the free stuff sections. There really is a ton of stuff for Posette and some for Dork, but you have to look at the "beginning"... which is to say, go the the "end" of the freestuff section and work your way forward. Do the same at some of the other sites (3D-Commune, Ghastly's site, etc.) I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of P4 items available.

Once I went to free stuff and started on the first thing and went right to the end downloading things I wanted. That was over three or four weeks not all in one day! The thing is, the second time I did that there was a lot of different new things, which was nice :)

There are quite a lot of things, in fact, out there for Posette and P4 man (don't know about P5 figures, since I don't have P5). You just have to look. If there's anything specific you want, you can always ask in the forum, and if people know where to get it they will point you to the right place. :)

Surprising enough I have been noticing a 'comeback' of new Posette stuff. Try the site http://www.posetteforever.com, a site dedicated to the P4NW Posette...you will find freebies and links as well there. A lot of Vicky 1 & 2 clothing will fit Posette with some dial twisting as long as you don't do a lot of morphing on the Posette figure. With a bit of surfing and searching you will be surprised at the amount of available stuff. [Your best bet for anything concerning the P4 Dork is to search the freebie achieves here at RO.]

Thanks for the links for Posette stuff, unfortunately I was hoping more people would have picked up on the Don/Judy stuff as well. I am running Poser 5, and have so very little to use with them. Is there anything out there for them? My biggest problem is with hair/beards ... there seems to be none available, or at least, the ones that are aren't the greatest. Thanks!

A lot has been said on the failure of Curious Labs to release Poser 5 as a stable program, IMO they really blew it on the characters they released with the program. Bypassing Daz and creating their own base characters was as big a mistake as releasing P5 prematurely.

Harts4life, any hair or beards will work with any other characters you only have to move them into place and maybe scale them slightly. Poser 5 is a lot more stable with service release 3 and it has a lot of great features.

I may be wrong (something that happens quite a bit), but I seem to remember reading somewhere that V1/V2 items can be used on the P5 female and M1/M2 items could be used on the P5 male. Like I said, I may be wrong, but I do remember reading that somewhere.

Kuladen, they can take the textures for V2 and M2, but the clothes don't fit, sadly.
