Looks like it applied a texture as a transparency map to the head.

James, May I suggest that you post this in the Vue Forum. You may have a better chance of getting an answer. cheers, dr geep ;=-]

I haven't had it happen in Vue yet, but I have seen this in Poser. Close the program, then find the file in your directory and delete the RSR for the PZ3 file. Reopen the file and reimport the PZ3. Problem should go away. Wish I knew why the files become corrupted.

timefighter ( ) posted Sun, 01 February 2004 at 12:42 PM

Geep...i thought you had left....great to see you still here.... I posted it in the Vue forum first. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi timefighter, Thanks. ;=] I did ... "left" that is. But they wouldn't let me ... so I couldn't. ;=]

Darn tootin' geep couldn't leave! (lol) We all ganged up on him and bullied him into staying. And we're a better community for his presence.

hey gang....I am still at a loss. Not sure how to delete the RSR file. Can anyone help me to do this....Yeah I am a newbie at Poser. James

DO NOT ... DO NOT ... DO NOT !!! DO NOT DELETE ===> "Poser.rsr" ... or you will have to reinstall the whole program. *********************** DO ... use "explorer" or other file manager program to go to: C:...Curious Labs (or Metacreations)Poser4 -or- C:...Curious Labs (or Metacreations)Poser4Runtime ... and find the "YourModel.pz3" file. You should have a "YourModel.rsr" file with it. THAT is the .rsr file you want to delete. Ok? cheers, dr geep ;=]

I reel back and wonder with awe and amazement at the reply posted by "geep" (and, no, that is NOT sarcasm!) I really am impressed!!

timefighter ( ) posted Sun, 01 February 2004 at 7:22 PM

ok.... I looked in the folder where i saved the pz3 file. There is no rsr file with it. I save all my pz3 files in the same folder, and none of them have an accompanying rsr file. Now what??? And also...is that a program that is available to keep all this stuff in order??? Thanks, James

Geep -- as usual, you are a true help to everyone.

Thanks.

The PZ3 still uses your object (and rsr) in your geometries folder, they are where Geep showed you :o) The rsr will not be at the place where you save your Pz3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ XENOPHONZ, I bet I'm not the only one who has kept the black background here. Your dark blue text is awfully hard to read on black. You might consider changing it :o)

James, Ignore the .RSR files - they are not your problem. The .rsr files (and/or .png files, depending on which version of Poser you are using) are the files that provide the "thumbnails" when you open up one of the libraries in Poser. Without them you just get the "shrugging man". The PZ3 files contain complete scenes and can go anywhere you want (Personally I use a folder called "+++MySaves" under the Poser directory; the "+++" prefix is to kep the file near the top of the list when the "Save As" dialogue opens.

Sorry, diaoma, but you're wrong. If you are using Poser 3 or 4 you will also have an rsr in the GEOMETRIES folder. That is NOT the same as the rsr which provides the thumbnail. Same suffix, different content, and different placement. The rsr's in Geometries makes Poser 3 and 4 load the obj a little faster, but they're by some obscure reason easily curruptable, and since Poser will generate a new one next time you load a character, if won't harm to delete it. It WILL harm to let it stay though, if it is the reason for the error. ^^^^^^^^ XENOPHONZ, the red is easier. But by choosing any custom colour you risk making your posts unreadable to some people. Some have red background, they won't be able to see red on red. The default will always be of a contrast colour. And you may think your posts are of relative importance, but if you think so little of yourself, why bother posting at all? :o)

Geez.. Why the hostility? I gave you a piece of friendly advise?! I even put in a smiley to make sure (or so I thought) that it wouldn't be misunderstood. Please from now on use BLACK when you write. That way I'm sure I can't see it.

Alright -- I will tone down the heat a notch.

Allow me to give a piece of friendly advice back at you.

We've got a lot of bull-headed people in this community. Many of them with their own ideas about things.

Also, many individuals offer "advice" in such a way as to transmit hostility whilst appearing under the guise of being "helpful". Frankly, it's become easy to jump to that conclusion.

However - apparently, this was not your intention.

This is my attitude on the subject: until Rendo decides to disable HTML in these forums, I will be using color from time to time. I like it. I am well aware of the fact that some individuals have various site color schemes that make the use of colors problematic. Well, that's a risk that I am willing to take. Not to be "hos-tyle". Just to be my own "style".

I'm as bull-headed as any to be found in these sunny climes. But I try to be reasonable. Unfortunately, with some, reason is impossible. They only respond to the hammer.

However, I think that this one is past. Besides, you make such excellent products, why should I squabble with you over a matter as petty as this?

I've got a drive ahead of me. I'll see you around.

Bye-bye Now........

It seems like there is some confusion here. Firstly, *.pz3 files do not have *.rsr files. What Dr Geep meant to say was to delete the *.rsr file for the model in your *.pz3. Find the *.cr2 file for the model in your *.pz3, and delete the *.rsr file for that model. Load that model on it's own into Poser, which will make Poser create a new *.rsr. Then re-open your *.pz3, and it should be fine. When you are importing things into Vue, all the files for your *.pz3 must be in the same runtime in Poser. If you have Poser 4 and Poser 5, and your Vue is linked to Poser 5, then you can only import *.pz3 files from Poser 5. If your Poser 5 *.pz3 is using clothing from another runtime, like your Poser 4 runtime, it will not import that clothing. Hope that helps.

ernyoka-- I bow to your superior knowledge! I only have Poser 5 (I used to have Poser 3, but that was years ago), so didn't know about the RSRs in the geom. folder. I'll shaddup now! :-)) Cheers, Diolma

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2004 at 9:25 AM

Hehe I have Pro Pack and Poser 5 myself, so I tend to forget about them when question comes to possible problems. However I do remember deleting a load of them (from when I still had Poser 4) recently. But what a lot of space they are wasting :o)
