But, I was messing around with fractal terrains, came up with this, and thought I'd share it.

I started playing with KPT 5.0 Frax explorer, and got this image. I created a lattice out of it, then started grouping and replicating it. The first replication was just a duplication, then I flipped the lattice and matched them up end to end. Made for sort of a wrench like object. Then, I moved the origin to one end, and multireplicated it 11 times. Then rotated each one so it was pulled in to the center some (like a flower). Last, I made the same lattice smaller and multireplicated it x3 and stuck that in the center. The material is just the fractal image mapped back to each lattice.

Love the fractal. Love KPT5! LOL!! Well gal..I think from the photo above, that it may be used as a bed to hold something?

I have KPT Effects, but don't see Frax explorer, just Frax Flame, bummer....

I was thinking that, or maybe some sort of sea creature?? I just posted it as an abstract, but I'd love to do something else with it. Orrrrrrr, maybe I could turn it into a Mexican style sunburst. I collect those ... and that might be interesting. I don't know ... maybe I'll just let it percolate for a few days.

or an alien sunflower, wow thats cool looking!

Ardiva ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2004 at 5:55 PM

Hmmmm...maybe for something really funky, how about creating a sphere plunking it down to rest on there and use the same mat file for it?

PerryMcK ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2004 at 6:24 PM

Cup it in a neg. bowl and shrink, add flower petals--? :~)

That is astonishingly cool! To me, the top view looks like a cross between a Japanese crest and a Mandala pattern, but that side view makes it look very organic. Very inspirational!

Almost looks like an exotic flower/plant.

pogmahone ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2004 at 1:54 AM

.......or the suckers on an octopus' tentacles. Imagine an octopus in a tank with one tentacle pressed up against the glass, covered in those suckers! tee hee Will have to try to track down KPT5, whatever that may be

rickymaveety ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2004 at 10:35 AM

Yup ... I can see a sucker in that. KPT5 is bundled as part of a KPT filters program that Corel is now selling for about $90 US. Even though I already have KPT5 (bought years ago), I plan to purchase the filters because they also have a killer lightning effect I'd like to use as well as some other cool plugins.
