Subject: Have you broken something?

Have you broken something? I have recently experienced problems getting into the Renderosity Marketplace. It took me a while to discover a fix, but WHY is it happening? Here's the sequence: if I click on a link into the Marketplace from one of the email messages you send (when things in the wishlist go on sale or when a purchased item has been updated), my browser (IE 6.0) opens and two status line messages alternate forever: "Web Site Found" and "Waiting for reply". Forever (well, until the browser times out). Then if I go to www.renderosity.com (I get there OK) and try to enter the Marketplace, the broswer sits there "forever" trying to open the Marketplace. But it never does. I have discovered that if I delete the Renderosity cookie, then I can get into the Martketplace and my purchases and wishlist without any problem (after logging in, because I deleted the cookie). But if I click on another one of your email message links, the problem starts all over again. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks! Hal

No! Wait! It seems I have to delete the cookie EVERY time I restart my browser and want to get into the Marketplace. Even if I log in like normal (after deleting the cookie), if I close my browser and reopen it, I cannot get into the Marketplace unless I delete the cookie and log in again. Is this happening to anyone else??? Hal

Hi Hal, Very strange. Make sure you delete any bondware and renderosity cookies you find. Clint

OK. I guess, from your reply, that this hasn't happened to anyone else (as far as you know). Hmmmm. Well, if I figure out what it is, I'll let you know; until then I'll just keep deleting cookies. Thanks.

Hal, I have heard of this from several people and deleteing both the bondware and renderosity cookie fixed the problem. They didnt have to delete the cookie anymore after the first deletion. If I hear anything I will post back as well. Thanks, Clint

Clint, I think you're right. And I think that for some reason (maybe you know?) it must have been the Bondware cookies that were causing the problem. I had been deleting all the Renderosity cookies and that did not solve the problem, but as soon as I deleted the Bondware cookies (at your suggestion, above), the problem seems to have gone away. Thanks! Hal

Hot off the press: the Bondware cookies may NOT be the culprit. After leaving my last message, I had the problem again and discovered that there was one more cookie that I had not seen before: userid@market.renderosity.txt. It was an old cookie. So I deleted that one, and NOW I think things are OK. I have tested several times, and, so far, I can get into the Marketplace without problem. Here's how I discovered the market cookie: I deleted the Renderosity cookie. When I went to R-home I was greeted as "Visitor" but when I clicked thru to Marketplace (withOUT logging in) I was greeted as "bitplayer", so SOMETHING had to be remembering me as bitplayer. Here's a list of the Renderosity-related cookies I found: adminweb@renderosity.txt userid@renderosity.txt userid@bondware.txt userid@www.renderosity.txt userid@market.renderosity.txt Hal
