A very big thank-you for all of the great help and suggestions I was given for lighting this scene. Here is the latest version of it, about halfway done, with more figures added. I'm still playing around with the composition and the lighting.

The hints I was given about using some theatrical techniques, like backlighting, were especially valuable. I really appreciate all the help. (I'm going to have to give all of you guys co-credit when I finally finish this danged thing. :-) )

That looks great! I mean really really great! Has the horseman got a head? Can't quite tell. I think you've got enough figures in it. Anymore and it might detract from the desolation of the scene - not sure though. Love esther

I think this turned out great! I agree with Estherau about the figures. It looks just like Jack the Ripper is coming up on a prostitute who is glancing warily over her shoulder. The desolation of the scene is spot on. The lighting is really good. The whole scene is working quite nicely. There is no cabbie right? If so he would be up higher. I am thinking the dark area on top of the horse is just part of the horse. Is this hansom cab one where the cabbie sits almost on top? Maybe the cabbie is Jack. Anyway, I learned some stuff from your effots. Thanks for posting this!

Fantastic scene, the lighting and the fog are great. Is this the Whitechapel collection from RDNA? I've been thinking about getting them and your image has pushed me in that direction. 8) Catlin

OH, this is wonderful! I love the concept and the image. All that's missing is the street sign for Whitechappel and a small red stain on the cobblestones... Where did the props come from?

Aaaand here's the final-for-now version. :-) I had to crop it down considerably to keep the character detail and still make Rendo's gallery image size limits, but I have another version with a composition similar to the above that I may post another day (it's interesting the differences the cropping makes in focus and mood.)

Catlin, yup, it's the Whitechapel Construction Set from DNA, and I recommend it highly. Fantastic product, and the Transponders are already working on some Real Deal ($2.50) add-ons for it. The other items in the scene are Ian Porter's beautifully detailed free Hansom Cab (not in the freestuff, but if you do a search in this forum for Ian Porter you will find the post where he gives the link to download it), the P4 horse with Horsefeather's freebie mane prop, Mike 2 Low Res with the Edwardian Gent outfit from Poserworld (I painted new textures for it), and P5 Judy with a texture I painted, a dress cobbled together from some stuff I modeled (like the hat and shawl) and ISO's freebie Wedding Gown set, and the Loose Comb hair from DAZ. Whew... that was quite a credit crawl. :-)

I'm still tinkering with this picture. I like the composition in the first image a lot, but the one I posted in the gallery seems to have more interest and drama because of the tighter focus on the two figures.
