Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 28 11:20 am)
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
But I rendered it without shadows.

I am not that familiar with P5 (well at all) but the transparancy map (as I am reading it) is reading all white which means that nothing will be transparant. Black is transparant and white will show up with grey being in the middle depending on the darkness of it. I don't know how to fix it in P5 though. Sorry
The transparency one plugged in without the other one just doesn't work - I still have fat eyebrows. I'm about to try the image map now plugged into the transparency plug as you suggest.

Okay - it's solved! I believed you when you said either of those methods should work and I tried loading it as an image map, and it worked, then when I changed the image it stopped working and there was just a white area below the node, so then i deleted the node and made a new one with my texture and it worked, so therefore all along my problem was a buggy thing of poser 5 not really adding the transparency. anyway I'm happy because my v3 now has eyelashes. thank heavens! Thanks so much - I never would have solved this without your help. Love esther ps they look to me not quite as good as painted ones but not too bad.

Actually though there's some sort of bug I really think. I had just one node connected and it worked until I changed one transmap for another and then I couldn't even see the picture of the transmap at the bottom of the node just a white square like the one in one of my messages above on a disconnected node. If I take that node away and make a completely new node the picture comes back again. Love esther

One possibility for this problem could be Poser's cache system. I discovered thi annoying little "feature" when I was try to generate a texture-map for a prop. I did a quick 1st draft for the map with my paint program, loaded the tex oto the prop and renedered, just to check how I was doing. I then switched back to my paint program, made some alterations to the map, swithced back to Poser and re-applied the map. Nothing changed. After several attempts, it dawned on me: the file name hadn't changed, so Poser took one look at it and thought "I've already got that one loaded, I don't ned to load it again". DOH! Only way I've found to get over that, (Other than to save each modification to a new file, rather than updating an existing file) is to close down Poser then restart it. I don't know if this applies in your case, if not I apologise for a rather long-winded explanation. Cheers, Diolma
Diolma, in P5 at least, the picture doesn't change on preview, but if you render, it does update. (I found this out after eating huge chunks of my hard drive up with 30 .psd files call tex_1, tex_2, etc. Ouch)

OK Karen, I understand:-)) However the above can still happen (even after a render) as I found out, unless there's a way to force Poser to re-load a file it thinks it's already got (if there is, I'd love to know what it is - it can be a pain having to restart poser every few minutes). Cheers, Diolma
