Subject: Would appreciate some feedback.

Some of you may have seen the chess image that I posted a few days back. Well, now I have posted a new and improved image for which I would like some feedback.

If you could take a moment to have a look, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch.

Looks fantastic mloates especially the metal texture. What texture did your use for it? Catlin

I like the texture of the chessboard and the lighting of the second one...but the texture of the pieces from the first one...But hey realism is not quite my thing..but will give it a try in the near future..greetz

Thanks for the feedback Catlin and Violet. Catlin, the silver mat is from a 2D pic from AgentSmith (found at the link), that I tweaked to get the results I wanted. The gold version was also from a 2D pic (although, I can't remember where I found it--Mayang perhaps?). Thanks again.

Both are really good and Im impressed that you modelled them yourself in Bryce, especially the knights. The first set has an everyday look to it, kinda plastic, sort of thing Id use if I knew which way the bits moved, while the second looks much more expensive, so I guess that`s why it takes the eye. Nice choice of texturing and lighting here. Good job.

Thanks for the link mloates, you can never have enough metal mats me thinks. 8)

Sweeter than candy man.... The first one was nice. But the revised image is awesome. Gave ya a vote too. It is deserving In My Humble Opinion. Nice work. Wade

The pieces look suitably heavy and I particularly like the thin metalic stips on the edges of the squares!

Marvellous work! How on earth did you manage such an excellent wood mat? (that's always been something I've struggled with)

Both are very nice, the newest one is best.

Thanks for the feedback everyone--it's much appreciated. MM, the wood mat is from Mayang with a procedural bump applied and a bit of playing with reflections etc, applied to a 2D plane. I just wanted something to contrast with the board/pieces a bit.
