Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 20 7:34 am)
Well.... I know I said I was too mad at Zygote to help fix their screw ups anymore. But I've calmed down a bit ;-). If you can't wait for Zygote to issue a fix. Then here's something to try. Import the Micheal .obj into poser as a prop and look at the fingers. If they are not broken. Then the problem is that they messed up the JP's. If that's the case. Then it's a simple thing to fix. But I don't have him. So I can't look for myself. ScottA
Baloney!Just have Zygote fix it.He sould NOT do that. :)They should not release products unless they test em thoroughly.Yea,yea,I know programs, etc almost always have bugs. That is not an excuse,I am sick of hearing that from companies,it is a cop out.Just go slower BEFORE releasing products you sell, and don't be so careless to release stuff,so you can get your money faster,Microsoft, Zygote, and all other companies.I am in no way saying Zygote is not cool or nice, they seem to be,just go SLOWER!Thanks :)
Just a note here--I read the posts about the hands--I just checked both my right and left hand of Michael and I have no problems whatsoever--I did a VERY closeup of them, bent them, grasped, twisted, etc. I found no problems at all--in fact, was pretty impressed with how lifelike they look from the top and inside-texture wise (like Vicky's but 'manly'). I also have had no problems with the black lines and I have used all 3 available textures. If anyone remembers, there was a problem with the skirt from the clothing pak for Vicky--some of us had problems with it--many did not. I happen to remember because I was one that Zygote had test their various remedies. This may be one of those problems--that only a few have a problem and I know they will address it. I remember that they were unable to reproduce 'my' problem on the skirt, so this may be the case with Michael. I have found him to be almost flawless so far. Oh, the eyes--not being able to 'point at'--forgot that one G--thanks Scott. Overall, I just haven't found any problems with this model yet. Diane B
I just looked at the image above again--I have NOTHING like that at all--this must be a problem similar to my skirt problem--isolated. My hands--both of them--are perfectly normal. Zygote needs to know about this--but I feel sure they are reading this forum--nonetheless, I would email them explaining the problem.
Dementia. I'm afraid I can't really tell you how to fix the JP's. I have been a JP nut sice I got Poser and I love to set them up. You just move them around. There is no real trick to it. But It depends on the case. And I don't have this figure. One thing you can try without much fuss is to delete the .rsr in the Geometries folder. Then open Poser and try him out again. Maybe you'll get lucky. And it will fix itself. Good luck with Metacreations..errr I mean Zygote ;-) ScottA
Now....does anyone else have the problem of no bend function for Michael's head?....I have a parameter dial that says bend, but using it serves to change the face...(!!??)...for instance -1deg. makes him look like Prince Charles and +2deg. produces Mick Jagger.... How can we all have downloaded the same .exe file and have so many differient results? Scarab <-doesnt like Prince Charles....or Jagger for that matter...
Scarab, I checked that last night after you posted it and my bend was normal. I wondered about us all dling the same Vicki clothing pak too and why mine, Lobo's and a few others didn't work but most people's did. Now I can't remember the reason--LOL. However, I know that that was true--only a few of us had that problem. I know that Zygote worked on that problem and fixed it for everyone but it took awhile. I hope you sent an email to them about your problem. I expect you'll hear from them or someone with that problem will and they will ask you all the particulars. Its a royal pain, though, isn't it, when everyone else's seems to be working G.
Ok I tried deleting the rsr, that didn't work, I also tried the bend, it works fine...maybe you could send me those prince charles and jagger morphs hehe!...I'm afraid I'm an idiot when it comes to JP, so I guess I'll have to wait till zygote fixes it for me...but I wanna really render...waaaaaaaah!
Hello everyone, This is Eric at Zygote. The only way we could duplicate this "broken fingers" problem was by bringing in Victoria and loading Michael in over her. The differing joint setup in Victoria breaks his fingers. Victoria's poses used on Michael produces the same effect. You can fix this problem simply by not replacing Victoria with the Michael figure in your scene or by using the provided poses made for Michael. If Victoria is your default Poser figure you will want to delete her before bringing in Michael. Please feel free to email (tech@zygote.com) or call for this and other issues relating to our models. Thanks, Eric Allen Zygote Media Group
LOLOL--Scarab, you have BIG problems. I think you have some sort of 'bad' download or something. Anyhow, a particular peculiar problem. I'd write them with particulars. Did you try downloading again with your 'second' download?? If that is not still available, then I think you will have to get a new model from them--your problem is pretty bizarre G. Diane B
Hmmmm....actually I had planned to write to them once things had died down, I expect that they will have little problem letting me download again since they have my purchase record. I was just thinking that maybe others were getting these things and they would need time to sort them out and correct what they could... Scarab...<-less truculunt......
heyas; no, he meant do not replace victoria with him. OR make sure you use the specific poses made for him. (um... i think!) in other words, don't use victoria poses. poor guys, together less than a week and they're incompatible! the honeymoon's over, time for the divorce... ;) scarab... are you sure it is michael that has problems, not you? (i mean, are you on medication or something? ;) )
Steve at Zygote responded promptly to my question. And the answer is: they haven't set up the hands to be Scaled like the Poser 4 characters, so they break up or moosh when you try to adjust the scaling, either single-vertex or the whole size of the hands. And to the question why I want to rescale the hands, earlier in this thread. When you are doing portrait characters, the hands are as identifying of some folk as the faces are. Long, thin hands, Broad/strong hands, Porky hands all are expressive as to characterization. And much of what is beautiful about Anime characters are how the hands are drawn. I'll be cracking open my cr2's and having a go at hand transplants, I guess. To Scarab: I get the same YELL on the body dials on mine and I'm using the newest patch, so go figure.
Scarab, I bet Zygote will tell you you do need the patches, regardless, though. I remember that was one issue with Vicky/clothes pak. Then--work from there. Strange about the body dials, isn't it?? Whoops, just noticed you are now talking about the 'body' dials. I thought you meant the head bend. Now I'll have to try the body dials. Diane B
