Subject: Broadcast renders crash after new patch.

Berserga ( ) posted Tue, 10 February 2004 at 9:42 AM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 12:31 PM

I should have known not to install a beta patch! After installing the latest patch (the one with Mover 5) My broadcast quality renders always crash at the start of anti-aliasing. Anyone else having this problem with the new patch? If I uninstall, then reinstall Vue then reinstall the old 4.2 patch will I be asking for trouble? I've heard so many evil things about how Vue doesn't properly uninstall. :( I don't want to add further instability, and I REALLY don't feel like going registry diving on my brand new comp yet. :(

Hmmmm... oddly enough it isn't crashing when I render broadcast to full screen...

It also crash in 720x405 (PAL Widesrceen Format) It's impossible !!! The new patch cause crash in network render and also if you try to import a vue project from another machine. (a scene with poser character) Very big problem on this patch... this is not a professional way e-on... not professional :(

...and also big big problem with dynamic hair (P5)...

What I THINK I have found is , that it crashes if you change anything (like a material or add an object) but if you load a pre saved scene then do broadcast it seems to work. I need to experiment more... BTW It IS a Beta patch... We only have ourselves to blame for installing it :p

I've found another way... Big big problem with dynamic hair object and render cow... If you convert dynamic hair object (back polygon) and try to render on network it works... otherwise crash. I've convert it (i can do it because i've a distance camera view) and it works. BTW this is patch... correct... but this is the only way to install mover5... I hope e-on work on this patch and release a better patch next time !!!

The key word is "Beta" which means the purpose of the patch is to find bugs, so they can be fixed in the final version of the patch. anyway I'm gonna downgrade until a final patch is released. BTW it still crashed after two broadcast renders.

IMO E-on should have an uninstaller for beta patches. -_-

x-man ( ) posted Wed, 11 February 2004 at 10:26 AM

You can reinstall previous patch and you version return to previous... BTW if you save with the last version you can't reload from the previous !!! TESTED :( Now i'm working with the latest version with the network render cow, converting dynamic hair... Hope in a patch for this patch in few days... :

Shazbot!

My scene opened after repatching with the old patch, but it didn't have any Poser 5 specific content in it. Now I'll have to see if the Problem is actually fixed or not...
